Re: My Return to my country, the Democratic Republic of Congo
Dear Senator Coons,
I am writing to inform you that I am returning to my country, the Democratic Republic of Congo (“DRC”) in the very near future. I plan to arrive in Lubumbashi on May 20. The current President of the DRC, Felix Tshisekedi, has made this possible by reopening the political space and allowing political exiles such as myself to return.
I am returning to contribute to my country’s future by participating in the lawful, constitutional, and peaceful opposition. I will likely be participating in a number of rallies around the country after my return, and will be encouraging all of my supporters to wear white during these rallies as a sign of our peaceful intent.
I am hopeful that President Tshisekedi’s efforts to open the political space to opposition exiles such as myself will be respected by others such as the former President, Joseph Kabila, and that my return will be without event and that I will be secure and safe during my visit. Regardless, I must return and help lead my people in their constitutional efforts to make our country become the beacon of democracy and prosperity that I know it can be.
I want to personally thank you for your support to me over the past several years. I know you share my vision for my people, and your support has been especially meaningful during my time in political exile. I hope to visit Washington again soon and perhaps we can meet again then. Thank you again for all you do to promote democracy in Africa and around the world.
Respectfully,
Moise Katumbi

Re: My Return to my country, the Democratic Republic of Congo
Dear Ambassador Hammer,
I am writing to let you know that I will be returning to the Democratic Republic of Congo very soon. My plans call for me to return to the Congo on May 20. I am returning to continue my re-integration into the political space in my country, which has been reopened, in part, by the current President, Felix Tshisekedi. I will be contributing to the future of my country by entering into constructive, lawful and peaceful opposition to the current government as permitted by our Constitution.
I am planning a series of peaceful rallies around the country after my return, and I am urging all of my supporters to wear white as a symbol of our peaceful intent. While you and I have not yet met, I am looking forward to seeing you soon after I return.
Respectfully,
Moise Katumbi
