Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.
We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God,
Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer;
you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.
For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ,
with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.
LITURGY OF THE WORD
First Reading ~ Malachi 3:1-4
Thus says the Lord GOD: Lo, I am sending my messen-ger to prepare the way before me; And suddenly there will come to the temple the LORD whom you seek, And the messenger of the covenant whom you desire. Yes, he is coming, says the LORD of hosts. But who will endure the day of his coming? And who can stand when he appears? For he is like the refiner’s fire, or like the fuller’s lye. He will sit refining and purifying silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi, Refining them like gold or like silver that they may offer due sacrifice to the LORD. Then the sacrifice of Judah and Jerusalem will please the LORD, as in the days of old, as in years gone by. The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God

R. Who is this king of glory? It is the Lord!
Lift up, O gates, your lintels; reach up, you ancient portals,
that the king of glory may come in!

Who is this king of glory? The LORD, strong and mighty,
the LORD, mighty in battle.
R. Who is this king of glory? It is the Lord!

SECOND READING ~ Hebrews 2:14-18
Since the children share in blood and flesh, Jesus likewise shared in them, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the Devil, and free those who through fear of death had been subject to slavery all their life. Surely he did not help angels but rather the descendants of Abra-ham; therefore, he had to become like his brothers and sisters in every way, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest before God to expiate the sins of the people. Because he himself was tested through what he suffered, he is able to help those who are be-ing tested. The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
GOSPEL ACCLAMATION
Alleluia, alleluia.
A light of revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.
Alleluia, alleluia.
GOSPEL Luke 2:22-32
When the days were completed for their purification
according to the law of Moses, Mary and Joseph took
Jesus up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord, just as it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that opens the womb shall be consecrated to the Lord, and to offer the sacrifice of a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons, in ac-cordance with the dictate in the law of the Lord.
Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Christ of the Lord. He came in the Spirit into the tem-ple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform the custom of the law in regard to him, he took him into his arms and blessed God, saying: “Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, accord-ing to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in the sight of all the peoples: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.” The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.
NICENE CREED
I believe in one God, the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
At the words that follow, up to and including “and became man,” all bow.
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Deliver us, Lord…
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and forever.

PRAYERS
PRAYER TO SAINT MICHAEL
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
MEMORARE
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help,
or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother;
to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions,
but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
PRAYER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful And kindle in them the fire of Your love
Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created And You shall renew the face of the earth
O God, Who instructed the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, Grant us in the same Spirit to be truly wise and
ever rejoice in His consolation. Through Christ, our Lord. Amen

alianza a quien ustedes desean.
—El Señor, héroe valeroso;
bendijo a Dios, diciendo:
pueblo, Israel”.
Palabra del Señor. Todos: Gloria a ti, Señor Jesús.
Y finalmente… And Finally...
Here are a few thoughts from your pastor. They may be just random interests that I would like to
share. Hopefully, you will find something of interest for you also.
Nunc Dimittis
In today’s Gospel, we read about Simeon who took Jesus into his
arms and said the words:
“Lord, now you let your servant go in peace;
your word has been fulfilled:
My own eyes have seen the salvation
which you have prepared in the sight of every people:
A light to reveal you to the nations
and the glory of your people Israel.”
This is known as the Canticle of Simeon or Nunc Dimittis, and is
prayed every night in Night Prayer or Compline. The idea behind
saying this beautiful prayer is that we will be like Simeon—at peace
to die. I invite you to explore this prayer and let it comfort you eve-
ry night!
