Forgive our sins, and help us to live in your light, and walk in your

ways, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.

Stewardship

Loving Our Neighbor...Christ in Action As people of faith we are exploring the questions: How is God calling us to

grow—in the way that we love and in the way that we give? Jesus calls on us

directly to commit our financial resources to the church: “Give and it will be

given to you. For the measure that you give will be the measure you get

back” (Luke 6:38 NRSV). Our giving is an expression of our thankfulness and

praise to God. Next Sunday, November 17, during Consecration Sunday wor-

ship services, we will dedicate our 2014 pledges to honor the Lord with the

fruits of our labor. Please bring your completed pledge card, and, together, we will offer

our thanks, pledges and tithes to God.

The Flowers on the Piers this morning are given to the glory of God.

the congregation. Flowers may be given in memory or in honor of

someone or to celebrate an occasion. Contributions are appreciated

and can be made for any occasion or simply to celebrate God’s

many gifts to us. There are two pier openings on December 8, 15

Debbie Schaub at 908-507-3844; e-mail address, [email protected].

vice. Join us for Coffee and Fellowship between services beginning at 9:45 a.m., hosted

by Dick and Nancy Bedner, and after the 10:15 a.m. worship service, hosted by Claire Pratt

Church Family

We Warmly Welcome Reverend Bruce Schundler!

Bruce is a longtime friend of this congregation who served as a parish associate some years

ago, and as an advisor with our senior high fellowship, including participating in work-

camps to Maine. For over ten years Bruce served in fulltime ordained ministry in a variety

of churches, but for most of his adult life served as the president of a family business. Bruce

and his wife Sara are now retired and that is allowing them to once again become part of the

life of our church. From time to time Bruce will assist in leading worship, and has joined

the advisor team for the senior high fellowship. Bruce often travels, including volunteering

each summer in one of our national parks as a park ranger. He is grateful to once again be a

part of the life of our church. Please join us in welcoming Bruce back to BRPC!

Artist of the Month Artist of the Month Please stop by the church house to see the beautiful display of shawls made by the members

of the Prayer Shawl Ministry. As our November Artists of the Month, The Prayer Shawl

Ministry of The Presbyterian Church in Basking Ridge creates tangible evidence of love

and prayers. Members knit or crochet prayer shawls to bring hope, comfort, and love to

someone in need of kindness, peace, healing, and strength in our community. After the

shawls have been blessed by the pastor and the congregation, they will be given to the re-

cipients by the deacons, pastors, or Stephen Ministers. Those who have contributed shawls

to this ministry are: Betsy Fryling, Julie Conway, Alex Ryder, Linda Rhyne, Ruth Bashe,

Sue Price, Jean Dorr, Sally Warman and Anne Williams. To be featured as a future Artist

of the Month, please contact Janet Bentley in the church office.

joy we will welcome as our guest preacher Dr. William P. Robinson.

ington, and presently serves as the president of the board of trustees of

Princeton Theological Seminary. Bill is profoundly devoted to further-

ing the ministry of Jesus Christ, is an exceptionally gifted preacher and

teacher, and will be preaching at both of our worship services on No-

vember 17. As our stewardship season culminates and we are all invited

to make a financial commitment to support the work of Christ for 2014,

we pray you will be present.

God’s Co-Op Pantry Since God's Co-op Food Pantry opened its doors in June 2011 some residents

of Ridge Oak Senior Housing, another mission of BRPC, have become cli-

ents. Bonnie Kelly, Executive Director of Ridge Oak, and Eileen Kilcullen,

Social Services Coordinator, visited the Pantry recently. Although very

pleased with what they saw, they noticed a need for carts for client use in

transporting their bags of food to cars. Ridge Oak has since donated two red wire carts on

wheels for client use, a wonderful example of two of our missions helping each other meet

people's needs.

Please donate Pasta for the month of November to God’s Co-op Pantry. Donations may be

brought to the church house. Thank you for your support!

Opportunities to Give and Serve

Do You Like to Take Photos? We need photos for our new website! If you would like to take photos for the website or

have some you would like to submit, contact Gary Ingram at [email protected] or by call-

ing the church office, (908) 766-1616, x13. Categories of photos we’re looking for include

scenic or artful scenes of our buildings or campus, and photos of people engaged in church

activities (photos showing faces or close-ups of the activities people are engaged in are

best.) Any questions, contact Gary. Thanks!

The Giving Tree—Beginning November 24 Our tradition of sharing our blessings with others continues this year with our Giving

Tree. Beginning on November 24, Christmas wishes from our SCEEP students and shelter

guests at Homeless Solutions will be on the Christmas Tree in Westminster Hall. Please

visit the tree and select an ornament with one of these wishes. Purchase the gift indicated

and return it to the Christmas Tree by December 15. This year we will also be collecting

hats, gloves and scarves for men, women and children who are clients of God's Co-op Food

Pantry. Please hang those items on the tree in Westminster Hall. Your gift can help make

this Christmas a happy one for our friends in need.

Distribute Meals for E’Port on Thanksgiving! As part of our hands-on mission emphasis, we are looking for volunteers to help distribute

meals at E’Port on Thanksgiving. We will meet Thanksgiving morning at 10 a.m. at the

IHOP in the Jersey Gardens Mall in Elizabeth. Some volunteers box the meals in containers

and some deliver them to seniors, shut-ins and anyone in need of a good meal on Thanks-

giving. We should be finished by noon, so that folks can put the turkey on and still be back

for Thanksgiving dinner! Great activity for parents and teens or middle school students to

do together. Sign up today after services!
