SEARCHLightTheNews & Information from In Search of the Lord’s Way Ministry
Few things are more precious to me than time. Whether I think about my aging and coming closer to my end or whether I think of the second coming, I know salvation is nearer than when I became a Christian many years ago.
For this reason, I need to wake up about how I live and what I am doing. I too need to put on the armor of light every day (Romans 13:10). I too need to take notice of Paul’s admonition: “be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:15-16).
If “salvation is nearer” for me, judgment is also nearer. “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are made manifest to God; and I hope that we are made manifest also in your consciences” (2 Corinthians 5:10-11).
We must proclaim the gospel to every person with urgency, often, and everywhere! We must do all we can, as often as we can, for every one we can, as long as we can.
Will you help us financially in this urgent and critical task, so that souls may be prepared to meet God? Will you invite others to watch In SEARCH of the Lord’s Way regularly? The SEARCH programs are a useful tool for evangelism, and we cannot neglect to use it! If time is short (and it is), let’s not waste the opportunity!
Please keep us in your prayers and help us financially, because “salvation is nearer to us than when we believed.”
May the Lord be with you, Phil Sanders
Knowing the Time
Our hearts and prayers go up for Don and Sheri Blackwell, who were seriously hurt in an accident on a four-wheeler, while Don was in Virginia holding a meeting. Don suffered severe back injuries that will take many months for healing and therapy; he will be wheel-chair bound for the rest of his life. Sheri’s back injuries will cause months of pain and take months of healing.
We’re looking forward to Polishing the Pulpit this year; we missed last year. I will be teaching ten classes from the book of Jeremiah on behalf of the Georgia School of Preaching. These classes can be taken for credit. I hope to see you in Sevierville in August.
My summer schedule is quite full this year. I certainly enjoy being with brethren across the nation. I am excited about many things I see in churches, even though I know there are many challenges and causes for concern. Wherever I go, I can recommend what SEARCH is doing.
If you are traveling for vacation soon, check out the church map at www.searchtv.org. You will find many sound, biblical congregations listed. You might also want to check out our music page! You can hear or download about 200 hymns.
Please keep SEARCH in your prayers. We need your prayers and your support! May God bless you for all you have done through the years to serve the cause of Christ.
From Friend to Friendby Phil Sanders “Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you
to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed” (Romans 13:11).

SPOTLIGHTHave you ever wondered if anyone really notices that
we, as Christians, live differently than the world? As many of you know, I worked in the corporate world for over thirty years prior to coming to work with my father at SEARCH eighteen years ago. In these years at SEARCH, I have been blessed to find and stay in touch with several of my former work colleagues scattered across the country. Within the last few years, I have been made aware of the passing of several good friends and work associates.
One of these people I worked with daily at the IBM support center in Lexington, KY. It was our task to give technical support to servicers throughout the USA and Canada with regard to IBM Lexington built products. Bill was from a large city in New York, and while well mannered and highly technical, he had little or no use for religion. We worked side by side for nearly four years and he was promoted to work in Florida and I was promoted and moved to Maryland. While in Florida his wife passed and he soon moved back to his home state of New York. Within a few years he had met a lady who was a member of the Church in his hometown. Well, she and her mother went to work on Bill and he told them he knew about the Church of Christ due to working closely with a member in Lexington, KY. He accepted the Good News of Christ and was baptized before they were married. He went on to thank me for planting some seeds in his life so many years before. Bill became the treasurer for the local church and called me to let me know he would be signing the monthly checks to SEARCH from now on. A few years later Bill died from a form of cancer. We give GOD the praise for being a small part of Bill’s journey with Christ!
Tomorrow morning I will be heading to Philadelphia to attend the funeral of another IBM friend who worked in Lexington with us. I wish so much that I could tell you good news about this friend, but to my knowledge he never put on Christ in baptism during his life. And, I am ashamed I didn’t try harder to get him to listen.
Understand, people are out there watching us and some are waiting for us to tell them about the Gospel by our words and our actions. Let’s open our eyes and hearts to opportunities to share Christ with all we come in contact with!
“And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him” (Colossians 3:17).

PROGRAMSJuly 2019
Topics subject to change without notice
JUL 7 – ONE NATION UNDER GODIn the pledge of allegiance we speak of the
United States as “one nation under God.” We must ask whether we as a nation really are “under God.” How does God think of this nation or any other nation?
JUL 14 – THE ANSWER IS GODSomeone commits a violent crime in America
every 26 seconds and a murder every 36 minutes. Why? Sin has crept in their lives. The problem of sin starts in the heart, and the answer is in the Lord
JUL 21 – PEARL OF GREAT PRICEBeing in Christ and his kingdom contains a
value greater than all others. When one counts the blessings of being a child of God, one quickly sees that being right with God is worth every sacrifice.
JUL 28 – “WHATEVER”Our world has grown increasingly indifferent
to God and His ways. Someone has called this the “whatever” generation that seems undisturbed about anything. We may ignore God, but no one can ignore God for long.

GHANA, WEST AFRICA “I hope this email finds you and the family of saints well in the Lord. I am a preacher at Pankrono church of Christ in Kumasi, Ghana, West Africa. I have been preaching for the past twenty years. I am married with three children, two girls and a boy. I am taking this opportunity to express my thanks and appreciation to you for sending me the book After Life through PDF. This will help me to upgrade my knowledge in many things. Thanks and may God continue to help us to reach many people with the gospel without delay.”
REPUBLIC, MO “We love the whole program. But especially love to tell our friends to watch so that they can see how beautiful acapella singing is. Your congregation should be commended for their efforts in helping to produce this.”
SUPERIOR, CO Please keep the ministry going. Hope this helps a little bit – TV time is so expensive, BUT people are listening and searching for something that is True and something they can count on for sure. Keep doing what you are doing.”
MONTGOMERY, AL “Thank you for all that you do to spread God’s message to those who are lost and to edify those who are a part of God’s family. We appreciate all the time and effort you put into getting His message out.”
RED OAK, TX “I watch your television program every Sunday morning on two Dallas stations. One at 7:30 am, and the other immediately following at 8:00 am, because I love the gospel singing so much. The sermons are so good to be carried out in our daily personal Christian life with chapter and verse. Thank you so much.”
PHOENIX AZ “I am recently retired from a company that often had me traveling worldwide. Unfortunately, it was not always easy for me to find a congregation to worship with. So, in some ways, I feel like Search is my congregation. I can pull up the website or YouTube, and worship with you all. Your work continues to be a blessing to me!”
SPRING CITY, TN “We watch ‘In Search of the Lords Way’ every Sunday morning before going to church. Phil is such a great teacher of the Bible. We watch the program on Wednesday night and sing with them. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in all your work in teaching the Bible. May your work continue as we help to support this great service in spreading the gospel.”
