July is here. Thus is done! Super busy month! Our guild is still working to
complete our six inch bear paw blocks to incorporate in this year's opportunity
quilt, planning to work on it Tuesday July 7. We have our picnic on July 9,
remember it starts at 6pm. Then the first ever Ricky Tim's Super Seminar our
guild is sponsoring begins on the 16th of July. Please remember to bring any
quilt you plan to have hung for the super seminar week to the picnic!
I am excited to see all of you at one or more of our quilt related fun events this
month.
Cheers,
Kathryn
Quilt Display at Downtown Shops and Seneca Center
Would you like to display one of your beautiful quilts during Quilt Week in
Morgantown July 13-18? Please bring your quilt to the Picnic on July 9th in a
pillowcase or bag. We will have a card for you to fill out. Quilts will be displayed
in the windows of the Morgantown Visitor's Center, Pathfinder, Coni & Franc,
Coombs Florist, The Arrow Gift Shop, Sew Special 2, Kuehn Sisters Jewelers,
Silver Penny, Pinocchio's, and the Seneca Center. Quilts will be displayed
from July 10th-20th. Quilts can be picked up at the Seneca Center on Monday,
July 20th between 1 and 3PM. We will have a form for you to fill out at the picnic
to be displayed with your quilt. If you can't make it to the picnic but would like to
display your quilt, please contact Franny or Laura and we will make
arrangements to pick up your quilt. It will be exciting to show off our talented
guild members' skills and handiwork when so many quilting guests will be in
town. We are also using this as an
opportunity to invite interested quilters
to join our guild. The public library is
creating a quilting book display that
week. Check it out! We will email the
guild a list of where your quilt is
displayed after July 10th.

Minutes Of June 11, 2015 Meeting
Jane Larke, Secretary
Lu-Ann B.-W. traveled to Phoenix, AZ and
survived the 115 degree heat by visiting
three quilt shops. 35th Ave Fabric World/
Sew and Vac is a treasure trove for any-
thing quilt related and has some of the
friendliest and helpful staff I’ve met in
any quilt store in the country. Quiltz is a
small shop with a good variety of high
quality fabrics and supplies. 3 Dudes
Quilting, Inc. has a small selection of
fabrics and many patterns from local
designers; 3 Dudes offers a diversity of
classes that are posted on their website
and you may consider if you ever visit the
Phoenix area. It’s quite obvious these
owners have a great sense of humor be-
fore you ever walk into 3 Dudes Quilt-
ing – see photo.
Nancy S. was awarded an Honorable
Mention ribbon at the Culture Center in
Charleston. Carolyn G. also won Honora-
ble Mention on two quilts, one full size
quilt and one wall hanging. Congratula-

into that show.
Terry C. won 2nd place for her wall hang-
ing at the West Virginia Quilt Festival
where she also taught a class on the
West Virginia Mosaic wall hanging that
she designed. Terry was asked to talk
about her latest story quilt, so she

highlight of the show for both of them
was the Quilted as Desired display by
Mary Kerr. Vintage tops were quilted by
some of the best long arm quilters in
the business. Together they took unre-
markable vintage tops and created
something magical! In her words,
“Enjoy this unique marriage of the old
and new as lines that divide our quilt
worlds become blurred.”
Jane L. visited the “Eye on Elegance:
Early Quilts of Maryland and Virginia”
exhibit at the DAR Museum in Washing-
ton, DC. The exhibit introduces visitors
to a little known history of early Ameri-

Textiles Alden O’Brien looks at quilts
and their makers from Maryland and
Virginia 1790 to 1860. The quilts,
made from the finest imported fabrics
of the time, reflect the refined taste,
style, and wealth of the women artists.
The exhibit runs until September 5. For
