Mercury

• It takes only 88 Earth-days for Mercury to make one orbit around the Sun.

• During the day, temperatures can reach over 800° F.

• At night, the temperature can drop at almost -300° F.

Venus

• On Venus temperatures can reach to 900° F.

• Venus is surrounded by thick clouds that reflect the light from the Sun.

• Both were formed about 4 ½ billion years ago.

EARTH

• The Earth is the only planet that can support life.

• Earth is the only planet with food that we can eat.

• Earth is the 3rd planet from the Sun.

Mars

• Mars was named after the Roman god of war.

• The rest of Mars is mostly nitrogen and argon.

• It is usually very cold on Mars.

Jupiter

• Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun.

• Jupiter is 483 million miles from the Sun.

• Jupiter has 16 moons.

Saturn

• Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun.

• Saturn is 887 million miles (1 billion, 416 million kilometers) from the Sun.

• Saturn has at least 18 moons.

Uranus

• Uranus is the seventh planet from the Sun.

• Uranus is 1 billion, 783 million miles (2 billion kilometers) from the Sun.

• Uranus has 5 large moons and 10 small moons.

Neptune

• Neptune is 2 billion miles from the Sun.

• Neptune has at least 8 moons.

• A year on Neptune is 165 Earth-years long.

Pluto

• Pluto is 3 billion miles from the Sun.

• Pluto has 1 moon.• Pluto’s orbit travels

around the Sun in a different path than the other planets.
