The examination of the relation between art and society can be carried out in different ways. Social studies and artistic sociology can be helpful in explaining the present issues. Contemporary art in Iran has changed considerably, identifying the social concepts of which seams very important. Sociological studies are performed at two practical and theatrical levels at theatrical levels; principal axis of subject is discussion on such concepts as trust, reality, freedom, and limitations in art of Iran. At the level of practice and experimental researches, Iranian sociologists tend to examine an artist’s life and works. This article deals whit the relation between art and society and discusses the cases such as artistic sociology of contemporary Iran and various view points on sociology of art that will be helpful in identifying the relation art and society in Iran. These efforts are made in other to manifest the place of sociology in Iranian contemporary arts and to define a place which the society has allocated as its addressed factor in contemporary art. In Iran, art stands before the society as a product. Finally, this article examines how a client such as contemporary society is paid attention.
