What is The Pineal Gland ?
It has the shape of a fruitful pine tree therefore called Pineal .
The pineal gland, also known as the third eye (as the Egyptians call it ) is a small endocrine gland in the brain , which is
responsible for secreting melatonin, and also responsible for drowsiness or human
dreaming .

5-8 millimeters in size.
Hormones that the Pineal Gland Produces
It Produces melatonin, a
hormone derived from
serotonin affecting the odulation of
sleep patterns .
Function
Modern research is now showing that it is an endocrine gland able to influence the mind and
behavior .
The light sensitive pineal gland, is related to the
regulation of sleep-wake cycles.
• The gland is closely related to the function of sensory image.
Produces melatonin and is stimulated by darkness and inhibited by light.
It has effects on the gonads inhibiting or facilitating
