Paul Kesterson, a native of Anderson County, Tennessee , is a graduate of Bell County High School. Pinevill e, Kentucky ; Carson Newman College , Jefferson City , Tennessee ; Southeas tern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake forest, North Carolina. He s erved eleven years as pastor of churches in Tennes s ee and North Carolina . Reverend Kesterson came to Wilmington a f t er serving four years as Director of the Depar tment of Christian Lducation, District of Columbia Baptist Convention, Washington, D. C. Before that he served a s Associate Secretary of the Sunday School Department., Baptist Stat e Convention of North Carolina .

Reverend Kesterson came to Wilmington as Director of Miss i ons October, 1971. Through his leadership , t he present associational center loca ed at 610 South College Road, Wilmington, N. C. was constr ucted . Paul was instrumental in establishing Resort Ministry in the area. During his time of leadership two churches , Greenfield and Scotts Hill , were organized . United Christian Campus Ministry at UNC- W with offices located in the associational building, called the first full-time Campus Minister during Paul's leadership . roperty was purchased on Wellington Avenue in Wilmingt on which will someday be the location of a Children's Home Emergency care Center . Mr . Kesterson brought the first Christian Social Ministries Director t o Wilmington a s well as increasing the office staff to two full-time secretaries . Paul's last year as Director of Missions proved a need for an Associate Director in the area of Christian Education and this position was filled . OUJ"ing his almost ten years, the Wilmington Baptist Association grew in membership from 19,511 to 23, 394, and in associational missions giving from $27,781 to $128,673 . Paul's hobby is photography . With this hobby, he recorded the history of the association on film which will prove to be invaluable in the years to come .

Mr. Kesterson loves the people of Wilminbton Baptist Association and Christ so much tha he has given almost ten years of his life challenging us to move fo:rwar for the cause of Christ in reaching the people in our area .

PauJ and Lucille still reside in he home they bought ten years ago. lt is located at 710 George Trask Drive, Wilrr~ngton, N. C. Th~ ~estersons have one son, David, whc lives in Raleigh, N.
