There is something about seeing all of those chil- dren that brings me hope. The Spirit is always here, always within us, and chil- dren are a good reminder that life (Spirit) is near. My husband, Tom, played one of the wise men. He paid Jesus homage with pride and smiles and was it, frankincense? I don’t remember for sure. But I remember the smiles. Much of January in the church year calendar is spent in the season of Epiphany. The wise men are connected with this season; they are symbols of the revelation of Jesus Christ to the world. Epiphany means manifestation or appearance. As the magi followed the star it was Jesus Christ, Savior of the World, whom they found. It was not only the star that appeared, it was Christ. The season of Epiphany begins on Saturday, January 6 and the following day we remember Jesus’ Baptism where Jesus, once again, is made known as God’s beloved Son. We also remember, then, in this season of Epiphany, our Baptisms. If we haven’t been baptized, we hear the invitation to be baptized, to follow Jesus from the font into our daily lives of discipleship. If Epiphany reminds us of Baptism, it is a season about remembering we are loved as God’s beloved sons and daughters, at all times. It’s also a time when we remember the invitation we have to share the message of this loving God Incarnate to the world in which we live; to live as disciples; to make Jesus known in our communities, workplaces, city streets and stores, and families. I think the Spirit will give us opportunities to do that if we are open. We don’t have to come up with it on our own. I pray you enjoy this month ahead, walking in the freedom and love of Christ, and staying open to how you might be able to share this love and free- dom from the font into your lives. Message from the Pastor

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ, Immanuel, God with us, and blessings as you begin this New Year!

Last month, the Christmas Pageant was resurrected here at Faith. It was filled with beautiful costumes and music, energy from both children and adults, and the Holy Spirit and hope. There is something about seeing all of those chil-dren that brings me hope. The Spirit is always here, always within us, and chil-dren are a good reminder that life (Spirit) is near.

I pray you enjoy this month ahead, walking in the freedom and love of Christ, and staying open to how you might be able to share this love and free-dom from the font into your lives. God bless you always.
