There was a need in the Hebrew community
Moses was chosen, called, commissioned and sent
Moses must confront pharaoh
The first three plagues
The water turns to blood
Frogs everywhere
Gnats galore
The rest of the plagues happen only to the Egyptians
Flies everywhereLivestock dieBoils abound
The land of Goshen is tranquil but everywhere else in Egypt…
Hail destroys and killsLocust eat and obliterateDarkness for three days; a darkness “that can be felt”
Pharaoh will not let the people goThe last sign will change everything
Plague of every firstbornThis time Goshen and the Hebrews
living there must prepare
A lambSlaughtered at twilight
Its bones are not to be brokenThe doorframes of Hebrew homes must be painted with the blood of the lambWhen the angel of death comes it will
see the blood of the lamb ( the sacrifice) and Passover the believers
They must eat a meal in hasteLamb, bread without yeast and
bitter herbsThis meal would prepare them for
the journey aheadAfter 430 years they were free
Today as we celebrate Christ’s advent
We celebrate his death
Jesus came for this
Jesus, the first-born of God is…
The Lamb of God who would not be spared
As we celebrate the advent of Jesus’ birth
As we remember the Passover
We now celebrate Communion which is in remembrance of the blood of the lamb
And we eat the bread in remembrance of His life and suffering…
To set us free once and for all
