Dear Rtr. Anit Thapaliya,

Greetings!

I would like to congratulate all of you in assuming leadership roles as the President of your respective clubs. You will soon be leading your club as a part of a global community of young adults taking action for positive change. You bring together communities into your arms and as community leaders, you strive to support them and by doing so you develop your own leadership and professional skills, at the same time having “fun on the job”.

RI President Gary CK Huang is urging the Rotary family to Light Up Rotary by continuing our work including our fight against polio, and increasing our membership - more the hands that serve, more the service we can provide to the community. It is how we can make a difference.

I urge you and your team to pay more attention towards finding ways to strengthen your club and make meeting more interesting for members to attend. Build leadership skills and increase your knowledge, but more essentially, build friendship. It is important to understand that selfless service such as ours in Rotary is oriented toward the greater gain of the community and is more important that petty achievements.

I assure you that the District Rotaract Committee and I myself will do our best to take Rotatract movement to a new height.

Once again my sincere congratulations to you and your team.

Warm greetings!

I take this chance today to invoke the leaders within all of you. The oath and our spirit of fellowship should touch new heights this Rota Year so that the insignia of Rotaract has more meaning than ever before. Let the values of Rotaract prevail in every facade of our life.

Being a Rotaractor is easy but living it is a rewarding experience! We make friends, develop leadership skills, socialize and serve the community all at once, all as a team. Today, I salute your tenacity to the values of Rotaract.

We are all familiar with the story of “Androcles and the Lion” – of the fugitive slave who pulled out the thorn stuck in a wild lion’s paw. Later in the story, when he was captured and thrown in front of a hungry lion, the same beast recognized him and licked his hand instead of killing him as expected. Good deeds are always rewarded but in selfless action such as ours, the need is to work for good without expecting anything in return.

In this fellowship of greater good, I experienced the unexpected. I made friends, travelled far and wide, planned projects, brought smiles. I met the ‘Ray of my Life’ but failing to devote time in my personal arena, I lost it! Buddha left home at 29 when the love for his family was transformed to love for the world. Rotaract has given me a lot over the years, now it is time for me to give back what I have gained to the Rotary-Rotaract-Interact family.

The theme “Enjoy Rotaract”, our target for Rota Year 2014-15 is to enhance the amazing Rotaract experience. When you get up on Saturday morning, would you say “Its Saturday, let go Rotaract!!” or “Its Saturday, I need more sleep”? This difference depends on how much you “Enjoy Rotaract”.

I urge you all to be original, to question more, participate to learn, execute to succeed! Look at the positive things that you got from the organization. Stand for beliefs and not for those who represent them. Enjoy Rotaract to the fullest. Being a Rotaractor is the best experience I have ever had in any social activities, and I hope it is the same for all of you. Please remember that leadership role is all about your confidence and sustenance.

Let’s plan to strengthen Rotary - Rotaract - Interact synergy and harvest a wave of Service - Fellowship - Progress.

I look forward to use my energy to develop fellowship and service this year and I thank you all for unanimous support. Feel free to reach me 24/7, you all command my complete attention and service.

Enjoy Rotaract!

Many Thanks

Message from Rotary President The President Rtr. Anit Thapaliya and his teamWishing you all the best blessings from all the Rotarians of Rotary Club Of Pashupati-Ktm.

I am happy and privileged to congratulate and wish our own Rotaract Club Of Pashupati-Ktm to begin this Rotaract Year 2014-2015 with such a zest and zeal.As Rotarian, I am delighted and full of pride to see the present state of our youth Rotaractors heading towards their goals with confidence and accomplish-ment. Yet I want to request them not bring about the change only in Rotary, but also in boarder sense, they need to change the future of the country and the world at large.Unfortunately today we find youth more interested in the places which are not at all useful to them as well as the nation. They choose to spend their time on mobiles, playing techno games or partying all day and night. They lost their vision and at times if they have dreams they do not have the dive to make any attempt at achieving them. We must get out of this and rotaract movement is the right tool to control this.Martin Luther has said, “ I have a Dream ” and the dream come largely true. As rotaractor please dream, dream beyond your capabilities and territories. Dream high, Dream big. It is the age of discovery and technology and do not forget you, the rotaractor, the youth is the spring of life. When you dream, dream not only for the food, future of yourselves but also for the good future of nation and entire humanity. As our RI president Gray. C. K Haung has given his theme “ Light Up Rotary” to “ Light Up the World”. You as a Rotaractor have to serve the purpose of a candle which burns itself to light up the society. As your president I am committed to your goals and dreams. Talk widely and openly in your Rotaract club as well as Rotary club for your purpose. We Ro-tarians of Rotary Club Of Pashupati-ktm are always with you, so don’t let any hurdles come your way keep marching ahead for the movement of humanity called ,” ROTARY”.

Dear fellow Rotaractors

It is with great pleasure that I have this opportunity to lead this great organization on our 15th Anniversary and for this I am thankful to my former past presidents and all my fellow rotaractors.

I am thrilled and honoured to be this year’s President of Rotaract Club of Pashupati-Ktm. Six years back; I was invited to join this organization. I hoped this would open the pathways and portals to serving my community and beyond. I was searching for a way to utilize some of my free time in helping others and to become more involved in my community. The Interact&Rotaract Club of Pashupati-Ktm proved to be my answer. In addition to enjoying the weekly meetings, the guest speakers and the warm member comradeship, I have found tremendous satisfaction and reward in serving others through our numerous club activities.

A fellow Rotaractors once said “Strangers are simply friends we haven’t met yet”.Six years ago I stepped into a room of mostly strangers; today I enjoy a vastly expanded room of friends, joined together through a shared commitment to serving others and making the Pashupaticommunity and beyond a better place for all.

Here, I would like to thank IPP Rtr.Surendra Raj Joshi& his whole team for the successful completion of his tenure. Similarly I would also like to thank IPP ofRotary Club of Pashupati for their kind supports.

This year RI President Gary CK Hung’s “Light Up Rotary” theme required a join effort from every clubs to work in the community and to bright light in the life of people who really need.

This Year we are also going through our own theme “Learn, Help & Enjoy”. As Dr. Claire Weekes describe this theme as; Self Help for Your Nerves: Learn to Relax & Enjoy Life Again by Overcoming Stress and Fear. So we help together, we learn together & we enjoy together.

Finally, as you can see we are very active & committed to the needs of our community as well as our members. If you are looking for place to feel valued by others & make a true difference in the community and the world. Rotaract Club of Pashupati-Ktm would be a best platform & we welcome you all….

Last, but not the least I owe my gratitude to my friends, family & community who havealways been on my side.

Yours in Rotaract

HistoryRotary has evolved quickly in its short but dynamic history in the early 1960s, rotary clubs around the world began to sponsor university youth groups as community service projects. The 1967-68 RI president, Luther H. Hodges, and RI board of directors considered tis club activity to have international relevance, and rotaract was approved in 1968as an official program for rotary clubs. The first club chartered was the rotaract club of north carlotte, north Carolina, USA, on 13 march 1968. Several decades later, the rotaract program has grown into a strong, international network of more than 7000 clubs in about 163 countries and geographical areas. Rotaract’s 176000 members are young men and women (ages 18 to 30) who serves the need of their communities, widen their personal and professional contacts, and increase their understanding of the world.

Purpose of RotaractThe purpose of rotaract is to provide an opportunity for young men and women to enhance the knowledge and skills that will assists them in personal development, to address the physical

and social needs of their communities and to promote better relations between all people worldwide through a framework of friendship and service.

What Does a Rotaract Club Do?

Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women ages

18 to 30. Rotaract clubs are either community or university based, and

they’re sponsored by a local Rotary club. This makes them true "partners

in service" and key members of the family of Rotary. Rotaract clubs are

part of global effort to bring peace and international understanding to

the world. This effort starts at the community level but knows no limit in its outreach.

Rotaractors have access to many resources of rotary international and rotary foundation.

Rotary international provides the administrative support that helps rotaract clubs thrive.

Rotaract clubs organize a variety of projects and activities depending primarily on the interest of the club members. However, within the rotaract program, all clubs undertake three types of activities in varying degrees: professional development, leadership development and service projects. Together, these three areas ensure a balanced club program and provide important experiences and opportunities for personal development of each rotaractor.

Professional Development A club’s professional development activities should expand the members’s understanding of the work environment and business opportunities within their community. These activities should highlight the rotaractor’s role in the community’s economic development and illustrate how skills developed through service activities can help in resolving problems in the workplace.

Each rotaract club should provide professional development opportunities to its member through activities such as:• Professionalandvocationalforum• Businesstechnologyupdates.• Managementandmarketingseminars.• Conferencesonbusinessandprofessionalethics.

• Presentationsonfinanceandcreditoptionforbusinessstart-up.

Sponsoring Rotarians can enhance the professional development of rotaractors by providing practical advice on entering the business world and tackling business, vocational and professional challenges.

Making the club’s professional development projects into rotaract-rotary projects can also help rotaractors get better acquainted with sponsoring Rotarians.

Leadership DevelopmentA club’s leadership development activities aim not only to make members more effective leaders in their personal lives, but also to teach then how to develop and sustain strong clubs with relevant prolects. Important topic to address in club leaders include:• Improvingpublicspeakingskills.• Buildingconsensusamongmember.• Delegatingprojectresponsibilitiesandensuringnecessaryfollow-up

• Identifyingchannelsforprojectspublicityandpromotion.

Finding financial resources for strengthening club development assessing projects success.

Service ProjectsService above self is rotary’s foremost guiding principle. A rotaract club’s service projects are designed to improve the quality of life at home and abroad. These projects are designed to improve the quality of life at home and abroad. These projects often address today’s most critical issues, such as violence, drug abuse, aids hunger , the environment and the literacy.each rotaract club is required to complete atlest two major service projects annually, one to serve the community and other to promote international understanding. Each should involve all or most of the members of the club.

The glorious history of Rotaract club of Pashupati-Kathmandu started from the day when it was chartered on 10th May, 1999 by the Chartered President Mr. Uttam Timsina. It has been serving mankind since then.‘Fellowship Through Service’

is what the rotaract club and the rotaractors have practiced since its birth and we believe that the same spirit won't let us die.

Today almost all people are "materialistic" they don't think anything behind Luxury and self-satisfaction. But there are some who have the feeling for others and who want to work beyond selfish needs These people are called Rotaractor.Rotaract club is the physical body and Rotaractors are the soul of the organization. Our main motto is to serve the poor and needy. We are completely the volunteer organization. The regular meeting discusses about the agendas that the club has to work upon and the works it has done till date.

We celebrate the national and international festivals and days with full enthusiasm. We encourage the youth participation in all sorts of social activities. The celebration helps to improve the awareness among the general people and empowering the youth of the nation.

Our club carries out activities like Volunteering program at religious places like Pashupatinath Temple on different occasions, Free Health Camps on the remote areas where health facilities are not available, participation in different community based projects like cleaning locality, health and hygiene awareness program, blood donation program etc.The fund for these activities is generated from the fellow Rotaractors themselves through fund raisers and from membership dues. Another important and inevitable part of our club is the "Special Area Project".Under SAP, we supervise thirty children who are one or the other way special. We look after them and try to give them the feeling that there are several people who care for them and they are not alone.

Peter drucker said," Good intensions do not move mountains, bulldozers do." Our Rotaract Club of Pashupati-ktm may not be a bulldozer that could bring a significant change(like moving a mountain) in the society but we are of course "good intensions" which we think is able enough to generate feeling of social welfare and "Service Above Self" among the people. Let's strengthen each of ours Good intensions, who knows one day we may move a mountain.

IPP Rajendra ShakyaRC Tripureswor

It was almost like a full time job for me becoming the President of my club in the Rotary Year 2013/2014. Although membership in Rotary is purely a voluntary job, I did feel a great sense of achievement and satisfaction that the year 2013-2014. I spent as the club president did not pass in vain. A year filled with full engagement in Rotary carrying voluntary works and providing services to people most in need – is also a great remembrance for the years to come. Most of the fellow Rotarians with their prime time in life are busy in their professional or business works and so it can be hard to find time to volunteer, given the competitive environment that each one of us has to struggle to make our ends meet. But it is also true that the idea of Rotary was originated in 1905 in the minds of four persons who were busy in the different field of their professions. They saw the value of giving their voluntary contribution for a cause bigger than their personal or professional life. Truly, volunteerism even for few hours a week for a cause greater than the self carries an enormous potential to influence your life, giving you a sense of achievement.

Let me share some of my learning about why volunteerism is important part of our lives and is good for our mental and physical health as well as our own personal development. As members of Rotary club, we are given a great opportunity to exercise volunteerism and get a sense of following benefits:

1. Making a difference: The number one reason to volunteer may be obvious; helping those in needs is a good thing. It’s eye-opening to realize that doing even small things can have a big impact on others. One example of the feedback from the families of Gamcha Village adopted by our club, of how our club member’s contribution with school dress provided to children in Gamcha school , has helped to improve class attendance of their children bringing joys in their face signifies a deeper meaning to our support. Rotary motto “Service Above Self”, serving others, by helping community meet their needs and making a difference in their lives with your volunteer support carries much deeper significance that it imparts a meaning to your life being utilized for a purpose greater than yourself- that is in making a difference.

2. Volunteering encourages civic responsibility: It is obvious that you are not obliged to volunteer if you do not feel about it, and especially when you are alone in your endeavor. It is only when we feel like giving back voluntarily to the community - helping or serving others - contributing some wealth, time, effort and skill or talent. For what we receive and what we posses with our position in the community; it enhances our sense of civic responsibility. Rotary provides us a good platform where you can join a group of members voluntarily contributing to social causes thus enhancing our own civic responsibility.

3. Volunteering connects you to others: In Rotary, since we are meeting regularly in our club, it helps us to also expand our social network and enhance fellowship with people coming from different background and interests with a common cause. Volunteering allows you to connect to your community and make it a better place. It can benefit you and your family as much as the cause you choose to help. Dedicating your time as a volunteer helps you make new friends, expand your social network, and boost your social skills.

4. Volunteerism is good for your mind and body: Volunteering can provide a healthy boost to your self-confidence, self-esteem, and life satisfaction. You are doing well for others, doing well in the

world surrounded by others with the same values and commitment provides a natural sense of accomplishment. Your role as a volunteer can also give you a sense of pride and identity. And the better you feel about yourself, the more likely you are to have a positive view of your life and future goals.

5. Volunteerism for youth: Most adults understand why volunteering and donating to charities are important. After all, in helping others, you ultimately help yourself. But what about younger people? With so little life experience, it isn’t always obvious to them why volunteering is so valuable. For younger generations, who are still in their early stages of life and seeking career development, a volunteer experience can be life-changing, such as:

• GainJobExperience.• ImproveYourHealthandSelf-Esteem.• MeetRealCommunityNeeds.• GainEntrancetoCollege.• MeetNewPeopleandEstablishFriends, Connections and References.• GainNewSkillsandDevelopTalents.• SpreadPositiveEnergyandHope.• MaketheWorldaBetterPlace.• PersonalGrowth.• It’salsoFun!

Undressing: A PROSTITUTE

We stood close,I was touching her body,Her slender body,Scratched here and there,I could feel her unseen wounds,Palpating those bulging bosoms,Squeezed by strange hands,She was cold,Head to toe.

She was afraid,That I would soon leave her,The door knocked and opened,A vulture walked in,It clawed me,Pulled and hooked me out,Threw me aside,And pounced upon her,I just sat and watched.

Watched her blood being sucked,I just sat, could do nothing,Oh! My poor luck,She was a prostitute, andI, being her poor clothes.

‘….A step to the journey of change; Rotaract’‘Change’ is an inevitable and universal process. No one can defy the fact; this is also what we believe and accept it. Like a day is dynamic; in the sense that not the whole day has a cool calm morning, the every hours are replaced by the latter leading to midday, afternoon, evening, night, midnight and so this way we find variations in fact change and this is what indeed has made it so special, meaningful and complete. This is how we accept change, lead our life and also seek for change.

When we compare ‘CHANGE ’from the perspectives on psychology, even our life itself cannot be imagined without change. The developmental psychology has given the various life stages of psychological development –from the period of conception to old age where it describes how the development of human psychology takes places simultaneously with age and time. On the other, social psychology describes human being as social animal so he cannot live isolated. He needs to express, share his feelings and thus he needs to establish relationship with each other which we often call as social relationship; forming networks, building rapport, maintaining public relation so on. The ultimate goal after all is change in self, may be by establishing relationships, learning from the group, joining clubs like Rotaract Club for personal as well professional growth.

I take ‘ROTARACT’ as a journey of change that is why it is so special, an opportunity to the travelers who travel with the common entity –‘Rotaractor’ around the globe, learn along with fellowship sowing the seeds of love, fraternity, friendship, humanity and peace where an individual works for change, betterment of the society, nation and the people along with change in oneself. The journey itself is altruistic along with social responsibility and paving a way for better future by learning from the steps they carry on. I think not every traveler have such privilege that we have in ROTARACT.

Recently, I just passed a spring in this journey but the memories I came across is innumerable. In fact the journey has become a replica of memories; the events of joint birthday celebration to fellowship parties, the hardship of making the project successful to planning for something new, the days of volunteering in the crowd, the every precious opportunity of building rapport and friendship , the unique ‘Fellowship tea party’ after the every general meeting. These have indeed become a best part of my life where I destined to be.

But if I am to choose the best memories behind then I would prefer –the day I paved my first step to this journey; the day I was formally inducted as a ‘Rotaractor’. Since it was the day where, I, with pride was able to say that –‘I am Rotaractor Eliza’. The day I felt like winning the world and the dream of more than 4 years became a reality. Now, I reflect what it is to being a Rotaractor. It is indeed an opportunity, a privilege. I would not have been privileged to this journey without this step I dared to carry on and be the part of it. This has given me an insight to dare to dream and make it happen.I believe my single step may not bring a drastic change in other lives but I have a hope it can lay a foundation for change. If it is to bring change then we need to come together where the world is in need of youth like us. Let us come together and make the journey of change; ROTARACT a momentous journey where the world commemorate and set a living entity- ‘Rotaractor’. (This essay was considered as best one and secured 1st position on ‘District Level essay competition organized by RAC Dharan Ghopa’)

Global WarmingWhat is Global Warming ?Global Warming is the increase of Earth’s average surface temperature due to effect of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels or from deforestation, which trap heat that would otherwise escape from Earth. This is a type of green house effect.

Is global warming, caused by human activity, even remotely plausible ?Earth’s climate is mostly influenced by the first 6 miles or so of the atmosphere which contains most of the matter making up the atmosphere. This is really a very thin layer if you think about it. In the book The End of Nature, author Bill McKibbin tells of walking three miles to from his cabin in the Adirondack’s to buy food. Afterwards, he realized that on this short journey he had traveled a distance equal to that of the layer of the atmosphere where almost all the action of our climate is contained. In fact, if you were to view Earth from space, the principle part of the atmosphere would only be about as thick as the skin on an onion! Realizing this makes it more plausible to suppose that human beings can change the climate. A look at the amount of greenhouse gases we are spewing into the atmosphere (see below), makes it even more plausible. What are the Greenhouse Gases?

The most significant greenhouse gas is actually water vapor, not something produced directly by humankind in significant amounts. However, even slight increases in atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) can cause a substantial increase in temperature.

Why is this? There are two reasons: First, although the concentrations of these gases are not nearly as large as that of oxygen and nitrogen (the main constituents of the atmosphere), neither oxygen nor nitrogen are greenhouse gases. This is because neither has more than two atoms per molecule (i.e. their molecular forms are O2 and N2, respectively), and so they lack the internal vibrational modes that molecules with more than two atoms have. Both water and CO2, for example, have these “internal vibrational modes”, and these vibrational modes can absorb and reradiate infrared radiation, which causes the greenhouse effect.

Secondly, CO2 tends to remain in the atmosphere for a very long time (time scales in the hundreds of years). Water vapor, on the other hand, can easily condense or evaporate, depending on local conditions. Water vapor levels therefore tend to adjust quickly to the prevailing conditions, such that the energy flows from the Sun and re-radiation from the Earth achieve a balance. CO2 tends to remain fairly constant and therefore behave as a controlling factor, rather than a reacting factor. More CO2 means that the balance occurs at higher temperatures and water vapor levels.

How much have we increased the Atmosphere’s CO2 Concentration ?Human beings have increased the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere by about thirty percent, which is an extremely significant increase, even on inter-glacial timescales. It is believed that human beings are responsible for this because the increase is almost perfectly correlated with increases in fossil fuel combustion, and also due other evidence, such as changes in the ratios of different carbon isotopes in atmospheric CO2 that are consistent with “anthropogenic” (human caused) emissions. The simple fact is, that under “business as usual” conditions, we’ll soon reach carbon dioxide concentrations that haven’t been seen on Earth in the last 50 million years.

Combustion of Fossil Fuels, for electricity generation, transportation, and heating, and also the manufacture of cement, all result in the total worldwide emission of about 22 billion tons of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere each year. About a third of this comes from electricity generation, and another third from transportation, and a third from all other sources.

This enormous input of CO2 is causing the atmospheric levels of CO2 to rise dramatically. The following graph shows the CO2 levels over the past 160 thousand years (the upper curve, with units indicated on the right hand side of the graph). The current level, and projected increase over the next hundred years if we do not curb emissions, are also shown (the part of the curve which goes way up high, to the right of the current level, is the projected CO2 rise). The projected increase in CO2 is very startling and disturbing. Changes in the Earth’s average surface temperature are also shown (the lower curve, with units on the left). Note that it parallels the CO2 level curve very well.

Foreign Aid: a blessing or a Bane? With Nepal successfully conducting the advent of the Indian PM Mr. Narendra Modi, it has garnered the interest of the entire world. Precisely after 17 years this momentous event was relived in Nepal. And although Mr. Modi’s pragmatic speech was affective the core remains his offer of $1 billion line credit.

In a gesture of India putting Nepal high on its foreign policy priority list, visiting the Indian PM on August 3rd, announced the loan through the Exim Bank of India. Nepal is among the developing countries and remains in need for such foreign aid to implement its long range plans. Some of these aids are out right aids and some remain as a long range repayment loans.

The question does arise and can be asked why Nepal needs loan. There have been and there are a number of reasons behind this situation. Firstly, to carry out specific projects there is need of investment but such an investment in large scale affects the domestic savings and thus there arises a saving gap. We need this so called foreign aid to bridge the gap between savings and investment.

The second persuasive reason remains that when the planned programs require import of certain sophisticated machinery and the purchase of some updated products that is not available in the country. For such a contingency if any commercial borrowing is taken then it results in a heavy repayment. And here foreign aid is found necessary. Foreign aid helps in reducing the burden on the taxation which otherwise would be imposed in the income and expenditure of the country.

It isn’t the first time that Nepal has been provided such an extensive amount. Time and again many countries have extended their hands to develop Nepal. China has helped us construct roads, Japan had given us aid for hydropower projects and Finland also provides us assistance. In one place we see the appropriate usage of these aids yet more than half the amount is often unaddressed. And this is due to the lack of transparency. Once given the aid, the source fails to supervise their area of investment and this gives the corrupted members of government to fill up their own pockets.

Also we know that often these foreign aids make a country dependable. They keep on expecting more and more and fail to prepare their own budgets. But for the constant growth and development of the country foreign aid shall remain not only a need but a necessity. While Nepal needs foreign aid, the foreign countries also need to transact business with us. Nepal cannot stand ignored in the international market. And this was initiated to the Nepalese government during Mr. Modi’s speech in the parliament.

The prime minister said one thing constantly in his entire speech, Nepal has potential; he is ready to help, give ideas, work shoulder to shoulder, initiate. But it is us Nepalese who have to strive work hard and prove ourselves, I believe if our government heard him and actually heard him then we can change Nepal

and why not? We have been given this huge amount for development. If every civilization of mankind had started from scratch then we are already a step ahead to make Nepal the way we want it to be-successful and developed.

GUILTWhat do you think is a tool to measure a person? Many might say weight balance, measuring tape, beauty shows, and etcetera. Well, there are so many as such to know what a person might be about to his/her appearance. What about the one to measure the real person deep down inside every single of us? That is something; I guess many of us are trying to know every now and then. And it’s completely understandable as all of our emotions, beliefs, expectations and knowledge so far rely on the kind of people in our life. Now that leads us to many questions, “How do you know every time that people are the exact same person you’ve imagined them to be like in your heads?” How many times in our lives have we not been stood corrected with the people we think we know so close? I bet we’ve all been disappointed in ourselves for not being able to know the reality about someone. Well, that is something which comes along with us being human and that we do make mistakes.

Such moments could be pretty upsetting and might as well let us down for a while. But what if it goes the other way around? What if we come to know about a person and their reality for which we’ve been thinking all wrong our whole life? I say that would be even harder on us and a true moment of guilt. Many times we might probably carry that guilt with us the rest of our lives. As far as I know, any little feeling of guilt might destroy our relationships. And what bigger guilt might there be than the one of absolutely misunderstanding a person for as long as we’ve known him/her. Now, how does one live with that? And what would you call it? Is it something that comes along with being human as well? Even though that might be the case, we can’t convince ourselves to that, can we? Guilt is the state of being responsible for the commission of an offence. It is probably any humans’ greatest burden on mind and soul, alive or dying. It eats you up every second of your life and steals you from everything you try to put yourself into. A broken heart can heal with time, an abandoned soul can find its life but a guilty one cannot escape from its misery and darkness. It’s left alone to suffer and maybe that is why they call it guilt, a punishment.

What about you? How would you define GUILT? Would you call it some kind of pity on someone for what you had done or pity on yourself that you couldn’t get over with? There being many possible ways to take guilt by every individual but I think one thing is for sure that it takes a great heart to get it off of you. Wouldn’t go so easy and it definitely leaves back scar in your life, a reminder for you to live with every day.

I don’t think it’s wrong to say that we’ll never be able to look into the persons’ eyes and say that we’re sorry, that we’ve mistaken them. We wouldn’t have that much of courage. And even if we did, where would that lead? Still nowhere; but we can always make it up to them and ourselves by being there for them with all of our faith at times they need us. Or how else do you think of recovering from your GUILT??

Narendra Modi:Nepal Visit & The Chinese Consequences The granting of concessional line of credit of about 10 thousand crores in Nepali currency to Nepal by the Indian Prime Minister for various developmental projects, particularly for Highways and I ways is definitely a very welcome step, as this gesture of ambivalence will not only further strengthen the bilateral ties between Nepal and India but will also dissuade the former to come in Chinese trap who have been tying their best to mesmerise the Nepalese since long to enable China made permanent inroads into Nepal to directly pose an imminent security threat to India. Everybody know that the Chinese are trying hard to demoralise the Indian government by playing manipulations from all sides viz. Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Nepal, Pakistan and trying hard to penetrate into our boundary/borders making false claims into our vast stretches of lands. Besides all this the clandestinely construction of Karakoram Highway from China to Pakistan to supply them military hardware and nuclear supples against India is one such step that speaks of the fact how badly China is committed to harm India, militarily, if and when it gets a chance to do so. Therefore, strengthening of strong bilateral relations with neighbours like Bhutan and Nepal is currently of utmost inevitability and the thrust of the our prime minister in this direction is definitely a welcome step. When the question of country comes, the first and formost priority should be that we should shun our political and ideological differences and stand together with whichever government that rules the nation at that particular point of time, as petty political scores and differences could be settled at the domestic level. The amount of respect and welcome India got in Nepal and the sound reciprocation of the present PM Modi towards the people of Nepal as a goodwill gesture will definitely pave the way for a new solid and concrete chapter of revitalization of mutual trust and cohesive relationship between the two nations. This friendship will further help in demoralising the expansionist China who is hell bent upon directly or indirectly claiming forcible ownership on vast tracts of Indian lands and areas on various border locations. Let's stand by our commitment to give a strong and huge rebuff to such expansionist forces and countries like China.

I would like to urge to the Research and Analysis Wings to understand the Power of this "Beautiful Picture". RAW needs to understand that "Love and Respect is the Strongest Weapon that don't give 'Water and Fertile Land' to the "Enemies of the Nation". I do think that Honourable Prime Minister of the Republic of India Mr. Narendra Modi has understood this "Beautiful Truth". I know, Every Country's Foreign Intelligence Agency don't sleep sweetly by seeing the "Enemies of Nation in the Neighbour's Room". But, RAW needs to understand that Bullets may kill the some of the leaves of the 'Poisonous Tree' but cannot root-out. If RAW truly want to see Nepal is Free from Anti-Indian Feelings, then, Need to Understand the Importance of this 'Beautiful Picture' and its Outstanding Performance to win the millions Hearts and Minds of Nepalese People. Finally, I would like to say clearly that "The Time has come to say Good Bye Darkness and Welcome Lights". We Nepalese People strongly and firmly believe that "If YOU think Good for us , we think Better for YOU, and if you think Bad for us, then, there is No Reason why we don't think worse For YOU". First Time in the History of Relationship between Nepal and India, the Honourable Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi have won the Hearts of Nepalese People with his Charismatic Leadership. Mr. Modi ! We, Nepalese People want to 'Forgive and Forget the Bitterness of the Past". Let's Walk Together Towards Brightness.

Brain drain: Boon or a curse?? Brain drain (human capital fight) is an emigration of trained and talented individuals to other nations seeking green pastures due to conflict, lack of opportunities and health hazards where they are living. Historically, the greatest brain drain has been from rural to urban areas. They migrate in search of good food, shelter and greater opportunities. In the 19th and 20th century, there were great migrations to North America from Europe and in modern times, from developing nations to developed nations, especially after colonialism. An opposite situation, in which many trained and talented individuals seek entrance into the country is called brain gain, this may create a brain drain in the nations that the individuals are leaving.

Nations like USA and Australia have gained a lot from brain gain after the Second World War. Africa has lost nearly one third of its skilled worker. Sudan lost 17% of Doctors and dentists, 20% University teachers, 30% engineers and 45% surveyors. The Philippines lost 12% of professional workers to the United States. Iraq is said to be presently undergoing brain drain due to the political instability. Nepal is also touched by this situation. It is also currently losing many students and professionals due to instability in education, political and official sectors.

A single reason cannot be attributed to the cause of brain drain. Different nations may have different grounds. Basically, people migrate for the need of better education, better income and to achieve their higher expectations of happy living. Developing countries are hit hard by this problem. Brain drain has also affected the developing nations. Many university graduates of New Zealand are lured to neighboring Australia where wages are generally higher and economic opportunities are diverse. Nepal has been experiencing brain drain in the past few decades. The twelve year long Maoist insurgency is the main reason for the great brain drain in Nepal. Several daily strikes various matters have hampered the daily life of commoners. People divert their attention from work and being frustrated, they seek greener pastures abroad.

Discrimination between upper and lower caste has played an important role for causing this brain drain. People from the lower caste are deprived of the facilities, discarded from politics, prefer to move abroad. Recently Brain drain of students has emerged as a major challenge for Nepal. The education system in developing countries like Nepal is very poor with no proper educational institutions, good teachers and education policies being made by politicians rather than educationists. After they achieve higher education, they do not like to return back to their origins because of much more satisfying salary and better opportunities available in developed countries. Likewise, opportunities and facilities are not given to educated persons. So they carry their ideas and thoughts abroad. This is a very disadvantageous matter to a nation like ours. If this situation is to continue, our dreams of a New and prosperous Nepal will just be a pipe dream- never achieved.

Brain drain is perhaps a major predicament for developing countries, where it is widespread. In the countries, higher education and professional certification are not viewed as the surest way to emigration from a troubled economy or political situation. Government of the ailing nations should work towards this very matter. Better and qualitative education should be provided to students and the salary of the employees should be awarding. Strikes should be prohibited for unnecessary matters. However, a country cannot be formed without citizens. Citizens are the basic macro nutrients for a country to develop. In the absence of these qualified, skilled and talented nutrients, a country cannot get the energy needed to carry out the developmental tasks at the hand. So as to retain these nutrients, better supply of inputs such as opportunities is necessary. So brain drain should be controllers as a country needs dynamic citizens.

Interview – ‘Pariwartan’ with Mr. Yangmali Sahadev Rai‘Dream’ has indeed become a foundation for change; like Martin Luther king delivered on his speech-‘I have a dream’, John Lennon expressed through music-”you may say, I’m a dreamer”. Here we have Mr.Yangmali Sahadev Rai who dared to dream and chased it to make a reality through his work. He is a 2013 Resolution Fellow, a magnum cum laude graduate from Westminster College, USA, with three majors, International Relations and Diplomacy, International Business and Transnational Studies. Currently, he involves himself as a founder/ CEO Yang-ward foundation. The team of ‘The Pashupati’ caught this young, energetic, determined youth to share his story. Excerpts:

1. How would you identify yourself to the general public?• YangmaliSahadevRaiissomeonewhodeeplycaresaboutpeople.Mr.Raiisallaboutgivingback

to society in whatever ways it is possible to make a positive difference in peoples’ lives. On a personal level, I went to different parts of the world for educational purposes which allowed

me to experience different cultures and opportunities and deal with people coming from different socio-economic, political and religious backgrounds making me realize the importance of different ideas, opinions and cultures. I possess a high level of professionalism, integrity, responsibility and confidence. As an inquisitive, confident fast learner, my actions are guided by the principle of “I can do” - a principle I have developed over a period of time.

2. You were once announced for ‘Resolution fellowship’ in 2013.Could you share your story behind it?• IcametoknowaboutClintonGlobalInitiativeUniversity(CGIU)conference2013throughSneha

Bhandari, a graduate of Westminster College, USA. She knew about my interest in obtaining funding to turn my dream into reality. Once I knew about CGI U, I thought this is the best possible opportunity I could ever get. The Clinton Global Initiative is a challenge that awards students the funding needed for innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing problems. The Resolution Project was partnering with CGI U and running their Social Venture Challenge (SVC). Resolution project was founded in 2007 to develop and empower young leaders so they can pursue socially responsible solutions to issues affecting communities around the world.

With more than 600 group applicants representing all 50 US states and 75 countries, I was the only individual competing for seed funding. Just to be honest, I didn’t think I had a chance. The Resolution project announced 150 semi-finalists and out of that only 17 teams were awarded seed money. I was awarded the largest funding of $9000. This seed money was important for me to turn my dream into reality. But even more important is the mentoring and the encouragement I am getting from the Resolution Project team. It is more like a family than anything else. The day I was awarded The Resolution Fellow 2013, was one of my best day in my life.

3. Besides these, you have involved yourself to ‘Yang -ward foundation’. What does this foundation basically do?

• BasicallyYang-WardFoundationimplementsdifferentprojectstoempowersinglewomeninruralNepal. As of now, we are focusing on cash crop production. We provide seed money to lease land, buy necessary agriculture tools, training about scientific methods of farming and so on. So our project seeks to turn these outcasts single women into valued contributors to their communities by achieving three key goals: 1) engaging these women in revenue generating agricultural activities

that give them financial independence so they can feed and house themselves and their children, 2) achieving sustainability in which their activities can continue without added external funding, and 3) making significant contributions to improving education in local schools through donating books, scholarships, and equipment to school libraries and computer labs. Financial independence will return to these women the dignity they deserve as individuals and enable them to help their children prepare for productive futures. Sustainability will permit this project to continue and expand in these and other areas throughout Nepal without relying on external funding. Contributions to local schools will give the entire community a stake in the success of the project, reduce potential resentment from others in the community, and validate and acknowledge the importance of local leaders in the community with whom the project will work to channel donations to the schools.

4. Well...apart from your study, being a youth what sort of challenges do you find involving oneself to voluntary work?

• SometimeIfeelIoverdothings.EventhoughIhavetimeconstraints, therearesomanyeventsthatI want to be a part of. Sometime it is very challenging to keep your commitment with different events and meet different people’s expectations.

5. In Nepalese context, volunteerism has been bothered least. So what is your say in this regard? What strategy can be made to improvise this sector among youth?

• IbelievethatNepaliyouthhaven’treallyunderstoodtheimportanceofgivingbacktothesociety.Volunteerism is something that we don’t emphasize as a part of our activities. So in order to improve volunteer turn out, access to information regarding volunteer opportunities should be made easier to find and good examples of successful volunteer efforts should be made public.

countries.

Message to the readers: Believe in yourself. Don’t give up on your dream. You can be someone who makes a difference in peoples’ lives. If someone doubts your ability, take that as an opportunity to develop and shape yourself into a better person.

New Generation “I am here to listen to the new generations because I think that they are not the future, they are the present”. Those were some of the words said by Ron Burton, president of Rotary International, during his speech in the Presidential New Gen-erations Conference that took place in Rosario, Argentina, last March 15th.

The event reunited over 1600 people from 29 different countries and several great speakers that were acclaimed by everyone in the room. Rotarians, rotaractians, interactians, and even a little kinderactian girl stood up in front of the attendees and told them why they join the organization, what does Rotary mean to them and encourage all to do more things in order to change the world we live in. Each one of the speakers reminded the audience the importance of the new generations and gave a personal position on the advantages that young people and new ideas could bring to Rotary.

In between speakers, the organizers propose some activities to be done in groups. People who attend were invited to discuss about the relationship among their own Rotaract and Rotary club and in which ways it could be improved. Later in the afternoon people continue on exchanging ideas and points of view and finally debate about how we as young people can change our world.

It was certainly a fruitful day since we all could learn more about Rotary and about how each individual lives the experience of being a part of it. This event gave us the chance to open our minds to new views and made us think in ourselves and in the reasons why we want to be a part of this life changing experience.

Make A DifferenceWe are all gifted with a unique set of skills and abilities. With those abilities we can make extra-ordinary things happen in the world around us, or not.It is completely up to you whether you want your life to make a difference and what difference you want your life to make.

Many people set lofty goals for their lives and want to be remembered as visionaries, they want to change and save the world.Others want to be remembered as the kind man or women down the street who always helped and always listened if you needed help.

Who do you think is the better person? The one who changes the world or the one who saves the individual?Do what not have to do incredible things; just being there for the people around you can save someone from a meaningless life and help them lead the life they were meant to live.

"Small things matter “Changing the life of another person is an incredible feeling and it is completely within your grasp. You can do this by deciding to become a mentor for a young ambitious person. You can help them avoid the mistakes you have made and help them learn from the ones they will inevitably make themselves.

You will often see someone get treated unfairly. It happens both professionally and socially, individuals who deserve recognition do not get it. “Fight for someone's rights” by taking up the fight and making sure others get what they deserve and earned you will be a true hero. You will make a lasting impact on their lives and you will be rewarded with love and help in the future when you are in need.As the law of karma says that whatever you do you will get back three fold, helping others is therefore a selfish act, but still a good act, one that you should do without fear, with love and with the knowledge that you will one day be rewarded.

In truth we might all be here to help each other, we might all be a part of a machine that fosters cooperation, or were not. We might just be here to make the best of the situation for ourselves.

In any case, helping others brings happiness and prosperity into your own life, so for whatever reason you chose to help others, it will always help you in return.

There was a man who was blind. He went to a future-teller. The future-teller gave him a letter and his eyes fortunately appeared. Then he described this incident in a hindi song:“Chitthi aeye hai aeye hai”

Teacher: There should be a change in study. I will tell you a story and you all have to de-scribe it in a bollywood song. Once there was a Marsalate teacher. His life was set on an ant. If the ant dies, he will also die. He kept a connection of wire in his heart and the ant. If anyone tries to kill the ant, the alarm would ring in the man’s heart. Once a girl came and killed the ant. He said the students to describe it.

Students: we do not know sir.Teacher: ok, then I will tell you. Then he begin to sing-“tune maari entriyar dil ma baji

ghanti yaa tang, tang,tang”

Aristotle once said "Anyone can become angry that is easy, but to be angry with the right person, the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose and in the right way, this is not easy." The quotation is very relevant in the context of emotional intelligence which ulti-mately affects our career and the day to day life since anger is the most common and highly affecting emotion any one's life. Lot of people have been unsuccessful, as they term, in their career and life just because of not being able to handle emotions, mostly anger, despite good knowledge and skill of work and profession. There have been many researches which show that people spend substantial amount of time in getting anger and managing or mitigating the consequences arising out of it.

We tend to grade people as successful and unsuccessful. No doubt, it is a relative and com-parative matter. Like a big house has so many rooms inside, we also have so many aspects of our life i.e. personal and family life, social life, professional/work life, educational life, spir-itual life and so on. Whatever may be the area of life there has always been two factors play-ing role in success or failure. They are intellectual intelligence and emotional intelligence. There is functional intelligence too, but I believe it’s a merge of intellectual and emotional intelligence. Ironically intellectual intelligence can be compared with hammer whereas emo-tional intelligence can be compared with a perfect hand that can rightly use the hammer to the target. If a hand has no proper control hammer can not work or perform well. If a person is weak in emotional intelligence, however intellectual a person may be she/he cannot really perform well in any area of life. The whole self is a combination of head, heart and guts that work in combination and as complimentary. We perform in group or team in our career. While interacting with the team members we need to manage and balance between the three

A WOMAN Itr. Shivam Ghiraiya

She gave me life. She is a wife. She is a mother and she is a friend. She is a sister and a survivor to the end.

Appreciate her, we don’t dare.Ask her worries, we don’t care.Wipe away her tears, they are invis-ible as air.

She works cooks and clean. She laughs, helps comfort and hides her pain. When you struggle she pulls you through.

All this is she and what do we do?Complain and create a mess.Provide stress and leave her feeling depressed.Push her away and ignore her advice.Tell her she is nothing without thinking twice.

She swallows her pride, put her feelings aside.Does as you need in order for you to be freeIgnores your ignorance and toler-ates your flaws

You call her nothingI call her STRONG, SMART and CARINGI call her GENEROUS, TOLER-ANT and SURVIVINGI call her WOMAN!!

You judge me on looksNothing but thatNothing on booksAs long as I am not fat

You think you know me And you are okay with what you seeHowever, all you know is my maskAs long as you don’t ask

HAPPINESS Itr.Kajal Agrawal

Happiness is a mental or emotional state of well-being characterized by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. A variety of biological, psychological, religious and philosophical approaches have striven to define happiness and identify its sources. Various research groups, including positive psychology endeavor to apply the scientific method to answer questions about what ‘HAPPINESS’ is and how it might be attained.

It is of such fundamental importance to the human condition that ‘life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness’ were deemed to be unalienable rights by the United States Declaration of Independence.

The United Nations declared 20th March the ‘International day of happiness’ to recognize the relevance of happiness and well–being as universal goals. In 2014, ‘HAPPY’ a song by Pharrell Williams became an anthem and inspired clips from around the world.

Philosophers and religious thinkers often define happiness in terms of living a good life or flourishing rather than simply as an emotion. Happiness in this sense was used to translate the Greek Eudemonia and is still used in virtue ethics.

Happiness is a fuzzy concept and can mean different things to different people. Part of the challenge of a science of happiness is to identify different concepts of happiness and where applicable, split them into their components. Related concepts are well-being, quality of life and flourishing. Some commentators focus on the difference between the hedonistic tradition of seeking pleasant and avoiding unpleasant experiences and the eudaimonic tradition of living life in a full and deeply satisfying way.

DECLARE WAR ON PLASTICItr. Shivam Sharma

From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, form Daman to Dinapur, India is one. Well, we are quite a united nation so far plastic pollution is concerned. One of the major contributors to this sorry state is the polythene ‘carry bag’ that we use everywhere at home, in parks, while shopping etc. we simply throw it away when we don’t need it or when it is torn or too worn out to be used. But that is the time when it starts showing real character. Neither air nor water can pass through this material.

Did you know that an empty pack of chips you throw away on the road will take hundreds of years to decay and decompose? How would you react to the news that a cow died because she had chewed and ingested too much of toxic plastics bags? Or the news that our water bodies and sewerage pipes and drains are being choked with discarded plastic bags?

Vast tracks of land are fast becoming barren because of the in discriminated and unnecessary use of poly bags. Choked drains are making our cities unhygienic, unhealthy and a breeding ground for mosquitoes and viruses which can cause diseases like malaria and dengue.

But that is only half of the problem. Most of the packaged foods are wrapped in plastic, the content of which are poisonous. They contaminate the food rendering it unit or unfit for consumption. The greatest threat however comes from the hospitals, burning of residual plastic which sends toxic fumes into the atmosphere.
