Father Hugh writes:
It has been a busy week for activities. Your Pastoral Team met on Monday, and we discussed at length several issues:
Diocesan JubileeSo far we have booked two 57 seater coaches to take us to Brighton. We envisage the cost of travel to be £15 per person. We shall be taking names soon for places on the coaches (see over). As they fill we shall then book further coaches. I emphasise that final details are not in place but we think we will need to leave at approx 8am and return approx 7pm to experience the full day of the diocesan family. It is not too early to put the initial plans in place. This is being organised very much as a family day. With that in mind I hope that we might have a shared picnic lunch together and so get to know each other through great chat. You can visit the website to find more details for yourselves and there are plenty of flyers for distribution as well as the ‘green’ postcards that are to be given out. Please do be active and use them all.
NB. Our Parish Mass that day is at 3pm at the Amex Stadium.
Life in the Spirit SeminarsOur parish is hosting and organising this springtime event as part of our missionary work. As with all events, it will rely on you to host each session. It will run for seven Tuesday evenings from 14th April to 26th May at the Jurgens Centre (see
Use of Jurgens CentreThere is a demand for our parish facilities and one evening a week is insufficient for parish use. We need to decide now which other evening we would like the hall for our use? Be aware of course that you rely heavily on the ‘sale’ of the hall to subsidise the running of our parish – something we will need to think about as to how we raise extra revenue. This will be a topic again for discussion.
Justice & Peace GroupKathleen Deane (01784 458492 [email protected]) is happy to get this group going. She has, in fact, been involved with Justice & Peace work for many years. She reminds us that fear must not put us off ‘doing something’ but rather co-operation to learn and care for the many needs. We can’t do everything, but we can do something to make a difference: highlight campaigns that need all our action - eg lobbying MPs for change – raise funds, shop with a conscience, support fair trade/Traidcraft etc. Are we a fairtrade parish?
Thank you for your generous offering to Pax Christi of £389.86.
