In recognition of exceptional student accomplishment: Honors Edition
Academics, Arts and Athletics are all important and vital components of our TBS
experience. We value the accomplishments of our students! We recognize academic excellence in the Middle and Upper School by awarding Honors and High Honors at the close of each trimester. In order to qualify for the Honor Roll a student needs an average
of 93 percent or above in the five core classes (math, science, language arts, social studies, Spanish) plus no non-core grade below 90 for any graded
enrichment/exploratory. For High Honors, the core class average needs to be 98 percent or higher plus no non-core grade below 93 for any graded enrichment/exploratory.

Charlie Holt ’11 is a sophomore at Sewanee – The University of the South
Proposed Major – Business /Economics Men’s Varsity Tennis Team Plays Drums Campus band – variety of musical genres – Indie Rock/Jazz/Pop/Funk Evening Sunday church services – worship band Recently applied for and was accepted to attend the Pennsylvania Academy of
Fine Arts (PAFA) in Philadelphia, but decided to remain at Sewanee instead. Still has a love for art.
Mandy Holt ’10 was a Burlington Day School student through 8th grade before
heading off to boarding school at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA. She graduated in the summer of 2014 with an impressive string of accomplishments and recognitions over her four years at EHS.
Honor Council Senior Monitor Overall Athletic Worth – Female Student – essentially top female athlete (played
three varsity sports much (all?) of her career – soccer, basketball and track) Highest Honor Recipient – distinguishing her above all other students for character

on their valedictorian from the highest honors group)
Robin Smith ’11
Attended Sewanee and played on the rugby team his freshman and sophomore year! Interned the summer of 2014 in London for International SOS - which is a French-based company and the world’s leading medical and travel security services company. He had a fabulous experience and hopes to work for the company after graduation in London, Houston or Philadelphia.

A founding member of Bootstrap Slick , a gypsy jazz/folk band - four App State students - band has played on campus, at venues in Boone, and at Rooster Walk 2013 and 2014 (music festival in Virginia)

Ashlyn Ross ’13
A graduate of The Elon School in 2013, Ashlyn played Varsity Volleyball for four years at both schools while also studying art with Rodney. She has continued to share her talents with friends and family by painting pieces for her nieces and nephews. Ashlyn has sold a few pieces along the way! Currently, Ashlyn is a sophomore at NCSU studying Crime and Social deviance, and is a Member Alpha Kappa chapter of Chi Omega.
Taylor Yow ’12 (a junior at
SCAD) both made the Fall quarter Dean's List! Trace Henderson ’02, an
alum who attended BDS from Preschool 4 - 8th grade, is the associate producer of the groundbreaking film I Origins. We posted about his film, which showed in
Durham, over the summer. Trace’s sister Adele BDS ’05
works in Harlem with a nonprofit called Friends of the Children of NY.
Whitt Sellers ’11 is now a senior at Sewanee (major in
economics, minor in studio art and writing). He has been elected to the Disciplinary Committee and will be inducted into the Order of the Gownsmen in October (this is an academic honorary society). He and Robin Smith traveled to Europe last summer with their World War II history professor and a group of other students and visited WWII sites in England, France Germany and
Belgium, having a great experience and earning class credit as well.
In her senior year at UNC Wilmington, Adrienne Madarasz BDS ’10 majored in
marketing and business. Adrienne’s sister Kristina Madarasz BDS ’11 is currently a
senior at UNC Wilmington and majors in biology and is preparing to take the MCAT and apply to medical school.
Ragan Riddle BDS ’05 Featured in the Spring 2015 edition of The Spear, Ragan is enjoying major success at Elon Law!
