The Ohio State University Concert Bands Percussion Audition Instructions Autumn 2017 1. Auditions are required for membership in the Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Collegiate Winds and Symphony Orchestra. Auditions are open to all students enrolled at The Ohio State University, regardless of major. 2. Complete the digital OSU Bands Audition Form at http://bit.ly/2e6yufa before you arrive for your audition. If you have difficulty accessing the form, contact Kristin Lin at [email protected]. 3. Audition Sign-Up is at http://bit.ly/2esLZXQ. Enter your full name. 4. If you cannot audition during the assigned time for your instrument, contact Onsby Rose at [email protected] to request an alternate audition time. 5. Please prepare the material in this packet, according to the following criteria: a. Musicians seeking consideration for placement into Wind Symphony and/or Symphony Orchestra are required to prepare the “Wind Symphony / Symphony Orchestra” materials in their entirety. All students majoring in music are required to prepare these materials. b. Musicians seeking consideration for placement into Symphonic Band and/or Collegiate Winds are required to prepare the “Symphonic Band / Collegiate Winds” materials in their entirety. 6. In addition to the prepared materials, you will be asked to sight read. 7. Access to university percussion equipment on campus is limited. To assist auditioning students with preparation, university-owned percussion equipment will be available for a several hour window of “open practice” on Saturday 8/19, Sunday 8/20 and Monday 8/21. Students who are interested in times and locations for “open practice” should email Dr. Susan Powell at [email protected]. 8. The audition committee may stop you at any point in the audition once they feel they have heard enough to make an appropriate ensemble placement. Please do not be offended; this simply streamlines the process. We look forward to hearing your audition. If you have additional questions, do not hesitate to contact Onsby Rose at [email protected]. University Band does not require an audition for membership. See University Band for more details. Auditions for Symphony Orchestra must be scheduled separately with designated faculty.
