Operation

Hawk-Eye Coaching Technology

To have a continuous feed of the cameras focused on the players will be a valuable resource for coaches. The television program output will only show the main broadcast camera during play. Replays are the coaches’ only opportunity to see individual player close ups and these are often at full speed. For example, the broadcaster does not have sufficient time between balls to show more than one shot of super slow-mo footage from high frame rate cameras. The ORS allows the user to review alternative camera angles at their own pace and at a variety of speeds, including frame by frame replay to allow for biomechanical analysis to examine technique and skill.

Integration with Data

All of the Hawk-Eye match and tracking data is time stamped to link it to the relevant part of the video, providing the following benefits:

Automatically skip time between overs for fast review.

Jump to specific moments in the match E.g. show all LBWs.

Overlay on the video the speed and spin of every ball.

In addition, match and tracking data are a valuable analytical tool in their own right and Hawk-Eye software enables all of this data to be intuitively visualised. The screen shot below displays the balls bowled by Anderson to right handed batsmen. By clicking on a particular ball the user is shown the relevant tracking data and is taken to this point in time in the ORS footage.
