IT’S NOT THE END, By CJ Martin It’s hard to believe that our time in high school has already come to an end. However, as most of us have mixed emotions about going our separate ways, we need to realize that this is just the begin-ning of our lives as independent adults. “It’s bittersweet, but I’m glad to be moving on,” said senior Kelly Geig. It seemed like jut yesterday that we walked through the high school doors for the first time as nervous little freshman. Back then, it seemed like we had

IT’S JUST THE BEGINNING...

all the time in the world before we would have to “grow up” and graduate high school. The upper-classmen would always say to make the most out of your time because it goes by so fast. Whether it be the military, col-lege, or anything in between, most of us are moving on to big-ger and better things and have the chance to start fresh. This change will give us the op-portunity to interact with new people and figure out who each of us really are. Growing up is not an easy thing to do by any means. For the first time, we will be living on our

own away from the security of our homes. Not having our parents watch every move we make will defi-nitely be nice. However, there is a lot of responsibility that comes with living by ourselves. Time management will be a huge factor. Setting aside enough time to study, but not so much that we are always worn out, is really important if we want to succeed in college. We also have to be able to bal-ance different aspects of everyday college life such as eating habits, exercise, and, of course… laun-dry.

Prom 2012: A Night to Remember By Shelby Dearth When we think of Prom, we all envision the big dresses, bright lights, and dancing music. But none of us could have imagined what a memorable Prom the 2012 Night for The Cure would turn out to be. Not only was the dance for the juniors and seniors to experience one of the last times being all together before graduation, but it was for a good cause as well. Money was donated to the Susan G. Komen breast cancer founda-tion from the profits of the dance. “It was for a good cause and I’m happy that people got to benefit from us having such a great time,” said Haley Daugherty. The night began with the tradi-tional Promenade at 6 p.m. This is a time for families and friends to admire the dresses and cou-ples as they walk out and have a moment of spotlight before the dance. “It was well decorated, al-though the ramp was a little slick,” said Megan Connor. “But it was still nice and pink.” “It was set up really nicely and everyone looked great,” said Joe Tomcho. After many pictures and hellos, we were off to Greenbriar for the festivities. The party center was decorated in pink, showing off the theme of A Night for the Cure. Pink lights encompassed the room, with the DJ booth glowing pink and pretty center-pieces on each table. “It was good, great, spectacular, stupendous, amazing, and fan-

tabulous,” said Jon Hearn. Once dinner was served, the dancing began. With the DJ get-ting the crowd involved and throwing party hats and glowing lights, it became a wild but fun dancing party. “It was so much fun and the DJ really got everyone into it,” said Kelly Geig. The After-Prom activities were held at Acres of Fun, where we were able to roller-skate, ride go-carts, play miniature golf, play games of laser tag, and get amaz-ing food. Many of us stayed to enjoy the rest of the night here, to complete a successful Prom night. “Acres of Fun was a lot of fun,” said Colleen Razem. “I won a lot of tickets!” “Although I left early, the go-carts and bumper boats were a good time,” said Jake Ramsdell.

After a long night, everyone was able to make it home safely which is a blessing we cannot be more grateful for. The day-after-Prom activities ranged from go-ing out to do something fun and exciting, to just lying around re-covering from such a great night. “We went to the Indians game the day after Prom,” said CJ Martin. “It just made the week-end that much more exciting.” “Austin and I just laid around all day,” said Cyanne Horner. “It was the perfect way to finish off my Prom weekend.” Prom is always a night that we will remember. It is one of the moments that we will have to look back on as we grow up and apart from one another. The memories made are something that we can cherish forever, and will be missed as our time all together comes to an end.

An Answered Prayer on a Cold Night By CJ Martin It was a brisk October night as the football team took on High-land in the last game of the sea-son, and for the seniors, the last of their high school careers. The Colts were down 35-28 with only four minutes to go in the fourth quarter. And that is when the magic started to hap-pen. The team converted on 4th down and seven to get the ball inside the Highland 10 yard line. A few plays later, Robby Buckwald scored on a one yard touchdown run to tie the game. After stopping the Hornets’ last attempt to take the lead, the Colts got the ball back with un-der a minute remaining. Quar-terback Josh Palko got the ball to Buckwald at the 15-yard line and clocked the ball with 10 seconds to go. The team was a field goal away from upsetting Highland and possibly spoiling their post-season dreams. But, then, it got crazy. The field goal attempt was blocked by a Highland player, but it was recovered by Derek Daubenmire on the 35-yard line with only 4 seconds left. At this point, most people were counting on the game go-ing into overtime. However, this fortunate fumble recovery set up the wildest and most un-believable play in football: the Hail Mary. Palko took the snap, ran around to buy some time, and as the game clock hit 0:00,

launched the ball 50 yards in the air, hoping and praying. It seemed like the ball was never going to come down, but when it did, the prayer was an-swered as Robby Buckwald had his hands wrapped around the tipped, 50-yard bomb. The game was over. Some-way, somehow, the Colts came out on top in one of the wildest finishes in Cloverleaf history. “I couldn’t believe that we ac-tually won on a play like that. It was the best feeling ever,” said quarterback Josh Palko. Pandemonium arose on the Cloverleaf side, while High-land’s fans could only sit si-lently in disbelief. Chills were running through the arms of everyone as we still couldn’t comprehend what just happened. The student section stormed the field, each of them looking for someone, anyone to hug and

celebrate with. Then, we all came together as one and sang the alma mater for the last time on the football field. The season and careers could not have ended any better for the senior football players, the band, and the other students. This is a game that will be talked about and remembered for many years to come. Not just at Cloverleaf, but through-out Medina County and beyond. “This was by far the best game I’ve ever played in,” said senior Chris Jarrett. “I’m going to re-member it for the rest of my life.” Our whole high school career, we didn’t lose to Highland, a perfect 4-0 against them. It’s just too bad we can’t come back next year and give it to them all over again. #Coltpride

The End of an Era... By Alex Oring The ending year for the class of 2012 in high school is finally here. For the class of 2012, they are about to start a new life after high school. They’re going to have to get prepared for college and how to make this year count and have fun while doing it. In the past years, previous sen-iors have said to make senior year the best and to enjoy it as much as possible. And to make all your dreams come true and to reach all your goals. In recent years, seniors have al-ways been the top dogs. Now class of 2012 are the top dogs and have to show leadership, but also have fun for their final year at high school. “This has been a great year and we have stood up and our class is different from others because we all get along and there isn’t any real big drama,” said senior Mackenzie Greer. Some ways to make this year more exciting: participate in spirit weeks, just be outgoing, show leadership, represent your class,

and just have so much fun for the final year of high school. See, all the seniors are trying to find new and exciting ways to make this year their best. This year has truly been the best year of high school because we’ve all became close and we all know that once graduation is here, high school is over,” said senior Ashley Mullins. The senior class is going to make this year count and exciting. Class of 2012 has to stand out from the past classes but in a good way! Like more fun and ex-citement, showing good sports-manship and leadership, and just getting ready for life after high school. Graduation and Prom are going to be the hardest moments of the class’s memories because they know after they cross that stage with their classmates, they are done with high school and on their way to achieving their fu-tures. “Graduation is the final step of

high school and it’s going to be a great day and the class of 2012 will appreciate it,” said senior Zach Beadnell. The seniors of this class had some major advice for the under-classmen and how to make their high school experience the best of all. “Just do what your supposed to and not just focus on the drama and what is going on with your friends, but focus on what the teachers are saying.” said senior Alex Oring. “The teachers are actually helping you for your fu-ture and what they are saying will come up again some time in your life.” In this final year for the class of 2012, they have shown that they have a bright future. This class had lots of ideas to make the last year of high school memorable. Remember this year as amazing and don’t let anything stand in our way from reaching our goals and achieving our dreams. Class of 2012!

Saying By Haley Daugherty As scary as it may be, May 27 will be the day that Cloverleaf seniors begin a new chapter in their lives. This moment is bittersweet for most seniors. “I’m gonna miss this place,” says senior Luke Plazek. “I also think that college is gonna be really exciting.” The end of high school means that there is a lot more responsi-bility, but also a lot more excite-ment. There is one question that many seniors are asking themselves: What do I do now? Even though most students are either going to college or pursu-ing a profession right out of high school, there has always been someone who has guided them through life. This is a luxury that many teen-agers take for granted. Now, as seniors go out on their own and pursue their goals they will be forced to make decisions that could impact their lives drasti-

cally. Graduation is also exciting. Af-ter all, independence is a good thing and it is necessary for peo-ple to figure out how to make their way through life. “I’m looking forward to all the parts of life that I’ll get to experi-ence,” says senior Connor Miko-laj. It’s hard to believe how fast life goes by after graduation. Right away seniors either go to college or start a job. The only things left to do after that are potentially get-ting married and having children. Many seniors do not feel like they are adults yet, even though they are graduating. “It’s hard to believe that I’m gonna have to go be an adult now,” says senior Claire Turner. “I’m gonna especially miss my awesome friends.” There may be mixed feelings about leaving the school that sen-iors have gotten used to over the last four years, but there is no doubt that this is a big change for everyone.

Despite all the things that stu-dents complain about, there are definitely aspects of high school that people are going to miss. There will no longer be that ex-citement that always builds up right before Homecoming or Prom. There will no longer be that sense of comfort knowing that there is a set routine for the school day. There will no longer be that sense of security that comes with knowing people at the school and having certain groups that are fa-miliar. However, even though these as-pects of high school may not be part of peoples’ lives at first, eventually people will find where they are supposed to be. There may be a new group of people that they hang out with or a new environment that takes awhile to get used to. Eventually, we will all be okay and will be happy in the next stage of our lives as independent adults.

Goodbye…..
