Letter to the Community –
The Shiawassee Community Foundation’s purpose is to honor the
wishes of our donors by building permanently endowed funds to en-
hance the well-being of Shiawassee County area residents forever. The
Foundation currently administers over 100 different funds.
Funds can be established for college scholarships, to benefit a specific
charity or for a particular field of interest. Field of interest funds address
important community needs such as helping the poor, health and human
services, at-risk youth, or the arts. You identify an area of personal inter-
est and the Foundation will carry out your wishes in perpetuity.
Founded in 1974 by people with a passion for making a difference, the
Foundation has grown to over $6,000,000 in assets today. In 2013-2014,
the Foundation has awarded grants and scholarships totaling $208,633. Of
that amount, $101,883 was awarded to agencies and for charitable projects
