Description of Summit Session/Training Tracks and Professional Development Workshops
Professional Development Workshops – Are offered prior to or after the Summit and focus on a particular topic for professional development. The workshops require pre-registration to participate. Space is limited.
General Sessions – Intended for all Summit attendees. These sessions provide information that pertains to all motorcycle safety professionals. See what’s going on at the national level.
Track 1 – Administration Sessions - Intended audience includes administrators, directors, managers, researchers, law enforcement, etc. These sessions provide information that pertains to the administration of a state comprehensive motorcycle safety program. See what other programs are doing to enhance motorcycle safety programs.
Track 2 – Rider Education and Training Sessions - Intended for administrators, directors, managers and trainers of rider education and training programs. These sessions provide information that pertains to administrators of rider education and training programs. See what other programs are doing to enhance rider education and training programs.
Track 3 – Instructor Training Sessions - Intended for instructors and trainers. These classroom sessions provide training to enhance instructor and trainer facilitation skills. See what other programs are doing to provide ongoing instructor development and education.
Track 4 – Range Activity/Training Session - Intended for instructors and trainers. These range riding sessions provide the opportunity to enhance instructor riding skills. See what other programs are doing to enhance range riding practice opportunities. Space for riders is limited, but observers are encouraged! Motorcycles are available and provided by the Vermont Motorcycle Safety Program.
Training Certificates: Attendees will receive a “Training Certificate of Attendance” for each day they are in attenance of the 2017 SMSA National Training Summit (6 hours per day). Riding Gear and Motorcycles: Training motorcycles and helmets provided by the Vermont Rider Department of Motor Vehicles Rider Education Program. Other Riding Gear: Attendees must bring all of their own riding gear (e.g., jackets, gloves, pants, shoes/boots, etc.). Own Motorcycle: Attendees are welcome to ride their own motorcycle during the range activities (SMSA not responsible for damage to participant’s motorcycles).
