FLATIRONS PHOTO CLUB

Boulder host for Photo FestivalThe Boulder Photo Festival, a weeklong event that fea-

tures seminars, workshops, speakers and portfolio reviews geared toward professional and advanced amateur photog-raphers, will be held Aug. 29-Sept. 5.The festival will bring outdoor, adventure, action sports,

travel and nature photographers together from all over the world to Boulder, according to the organization’s website at http://www.boulderphotofestival.com. The festival will feature a rich program meant to re-ener-

gize, educate and foster passion for the art and commerce of outdoor photography. Most of the events will be held at the Millennium Har-

vest Hotel, but many of the workshops include on-the-scene photography work along with classroom time. The main pass for the Boulder Photo Festival is the Ad-

vanced Standard Pass, which includes seminars, guest speakers, discussion panels and networking events. The Advanced Portfolio Pass features five portfolio reviews from industry professionals. The Full pass is a combination of the Standard and Portfolio Passes. You can also purchase individual day passes. If purchased by Aug. 15, the Standard pass is $195 and the

Full pass/Portfolio pass is $499. Rates are higher after Aug. 15. Tickets can be purchased through the website. Portfolio review signups will be done online through the

festival website a month before the festival’s start. Prior-ity will be given to those who purchase passes earlier over those who purchase closer to the festival dates or at the fes-tival. Each one-on-one appointment is 20 minutes long and it is recommended that images be limited to fewer than 20. Portfolio reviews will be held on Saturday, Sept. 3, and Sun-day, Sept. 4.Guest speakers include Krystle Wright, whose work has

appeared in publications such as National Geographic, Out-side, The Times, Red Bulletin, Inside Sport, and Women’s Adventure; Pulitzer Prize winner Vincent Laforet, whose unique commercials for such well-known brands as Apple, Nike, General Electric, CNN, and Canon, and his ground-breaking photography for magazines such as National Geo-graphic, Vanity Fair, and Sports Illustrated, cover a broad spectrum of subjects and narratives; Lucas Gilman, who documents subjects ranging from expedition kayaking in India and Costa Rica, Surfing in Brazil to backcountry skiing in Colorado, Alaska and South America. He has covered international events such as the Tour De France, Kentucky Derby, ESPN X-GAMES, IRONMAN®, and NFL Playoffs; Joe McNally, who was listed at one point by American Photo as one of the “100 Most Important People in Photography.” His expansive career has included being an ongoing contributor to National Geographic; a contract photographer for Sports Illustrated; as well as shooting cov-

er stories for TIME, Newsweek, Fortune, New York, and The New York Times Sunday Magazine; Chris Burkard, who began contributing to Surfer, where he is now staff photographer, in his early twenties; and Frans Lanting, who for three decades has documented wildlife from the Amazon to Antarctica to promote understanding about the Earth and its natural history through images.Workshops include:• Rocky Mountain National Park LandscapeInstructor: Glenn RandallDates: Aug. 31, 2016 – Sept. 2, 2016Fee: $695 first 5 registrations; $745 6-10 registrations
