Safeguard Our Three MainNational Causes

Today is the 62nd Anniversary of AzarniDay. It is a memorable day when Azarni leaderswere assassinated while they were strugglingfor the Union of Myanmar to be free from therule of the imperialists.

The Azarni leaders struggled for thecountry to liberate from slavery based on greatcommitment and perseverance for Myanmar’sindependence.

Although the Azarni leaders had fallen, their anti-colonialist spirit, anti-fascist spirit, national liberation, national solidarity andindependence struggles went down in theannals of Myanmar’s history. The people ofthe Union of Myanmar will have to emulateand uphold the leaders’ Azarni spirit, anti-colonialist spirit, patriotism and nationalisticspirit.

The independence regained through thesacrifices of the Azarni leaders has perpetuatedtill today. Therefore, all the Myanmar peoplewith patriotic spirit are to maintain andsafeguard the already-achieved independenceand the Union for their perpetuity. They willhave to maintain and promote the strengths ofnational unity forged by the Azarni leaders.

All the national people are to fulfill thewishes of the Azarni leaders while safeguardingOur Three Main National Causes: non-disintegration of the Union, non-disintegrationof national unity and perpetuation ofsovereignty in order that it can perpetuate aslong as the world exists.

He added, “Con-struction-6 of the Irriga-tion Department con-structed the sluice gate in1998, and then we main-

tain it. The sluice gate ben-efits about 15,000 acres ofpaddy fields and cropsfarms.”

The straight maincanal is about 50 feet wide.Along the canal werethriving paddy fields, gar-dens and vegetable plan-tations stretching as far aswe could see.

The sluice gate pro-tects the farmlands againstfloods when the river israging in the rainy season. It also supplies water tothe farms in summer.

Previously, hun-dreds of acres of farm-lands were flooded, thus

destroying paddy fieldsand crops plantations.Very often, it was toolate to start growingcrops due to floods. However, such unneces-sary problems were onlyin the past.

Owing to WadawSluice Gate, local farm-ers can start their agri-cultural farming onschedule, and cropsfields are irrigated when-ever needed. So, the irri-gation facility secures aprosperous future for lo-cal farmers.

BOSTON, 18 July—USresearchers suggest child-hood adversity may affecthow the brain anticipatesrewards.

The study, published inBiological Psychiatry, suggests weaker re-sponses of the brain torewards might contributeto apathy, low motiva-tion, or a reduced abilityto experience pleasure.

The Harvard Univer-sity researchers usedmagnetic resonance

imaging scanning to trackneural reactions as twogroups of adults played agame involving cues pre-dicting monetary rewardsand penalties.

“In the group that hadchildhood adversity, twostructures in the left basalganglia were not respon-sive to reward cues, which differed from whatwe saw in the controlgroup,” study lead authorDaniel Dillon said in astatement.

However, both groupsreacted similarly to pen-alties.

The 13 individuals withchildhood adversity hadexperienced abuse as de-fined by state guidelines, but were currently not ex-periencing any symptomsof depression or other dis-order as adult. They hadall been followed sincechildhood as part of theCambridge Health Alli-ance study.
