Heavenly Father, by the power of your Holy Spirit you gave to your children new life

through the water of Baptism. Grant that this child (these children) raised to new life in

Christ, may serve you in faith and love and may grow into the full stature of your Son

Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for

ever. Amen.

REFLECTION FIRST LESSON: In our Old Testament reading the prophet Ezekiel is

like a watchman: it is his responsibility to warn the wicked, but it is the individual’s

responsibility to stop sinning.

FIRST LESSON (OLD TESTAMENT): Ezekiel 33: (1-6) 7-11

[The word of the Lord came to me: "Son of man, speak to your people and say to them, If I bring the sword upon a land, and the people of the land take a man from among them, and make him their watchman; and if he sees the sword coming upon the land and blows the trumpet and warns the people; then if any one who hears the sound of the trumpet does not take warning, and the sword comes and takes him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. He heard the sound of the trumpet, and did not take warning; his blood shall be upon himself. But if he had taken warning, he would have saved his life.] But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes, and takes any one of them; that man is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman's hand. "So you, son of man, I have made a watchman for the house of Israel; whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me. If I say to the wicked, O wicked man, you shall surely die, and you do not speak to warn the wicked to turn from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. But if you warn the wicked to turn from his way, and he does not turn from his way; he shall die in his iniquity, but you will have saved your life. REFLECTION THE PSALM: The psalmist asks for the Lord’s guidance and promises

to keep God’s commandments always.

REFLECTION SECOND LESSON: In this lesson Paul exhorts the disciples in Rome

to live lives full of Christian dedication and virtue, overcoming evil with Good.

Never flag in zeal, be aglow with the Spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in your hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly; never be conceited. Repay no one evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends upon you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God; for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord." REFLECTION THE GOSPEL: Our Gospel presents teaching about how to deal with

sin and grievances within the Christian community. The early churches did not have

established codes and regulations and had to fashion their own ways of dealing with such

matters. Here every effort is made to bring the sinful member to repentance. Failing this,

the individual is to be treated as outside the church. Such decisions are understood to be

ratified in heaven and by Christ’s presence even in the smallest of Christian gatherings.

Jesus said, "If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every word may be confirmed by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. Bidding Prayer

For the spirit of peace in the Church and in the world, let us pray to the Lord.

Give to the Church perfect harmony among all her members, and let her witness never be hindered by the scandal of dissension . . As we come together for worship, may our hearts be so filled with love for one another that we shall be as lights to the world.

Bring agreement between nations which are in dispute and distrust. . . Heal the anger of litigation and give a new spirit to those who profit from the disagreements of others.

If there is tension in our families, with our neighbours or with any we know, give us grace to confess our faults and to seek reconciliation. . . Bring harmony to all in this community who are held apart by anger and resentment.

Bless and relieve all who have been ruined by litigation or broken by disputes that have turned to bitterness...

Restore those who suffer inwardly from their refusal to be reconciled. . . Have mercy on all in prison, granting them acknowledgement of faults and new hope for the future.

We pray for those who were gathered together in the name of the Lord when they were in this world, and are gathered into the great company of the blessed in heaven.. . May the peace they now enjoy rest upon all who are still on their way.

We pray that our prayers may be accepted in Christ, in whose name we are gathered together. Amen.

1. Welcome to St. Anthony’s School Alumni who are celebrating with us today. 2. Welcome to those persons who have received the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, with

the support of family and friends. 3. We extend congratulations to those persons starting school and college for a new

year. Congratulations to those who are entering new schools for the first time. To our teachers, and all who work in schools, best wishes for this new year.

4. The Captain and members of the Church Army invite us to share in their annual concert, next Sunday. They have been hard at work preparing for the event. Kindly give them your support.

5. I will start Bible Study and Confirmation Class for Adults next Wednesday 10th September. Confirmation Class at 6:00p.m. Bible Study at 7:30p.m.– The Book of Daniel.

Beautiful and exotic blooms, tropical heliconias and gingers, mixed with other flowers imported from ever corner of the globe, complemented with foliage of every colour, shape and forms to be showcased.

The show committee extends an invitation to you, our members, family and friends to sponsor an arrangement on the balcony in memoriam to a parent, child, friend or a celebration of a birthday, anniversary or just because… Over the years, our Balcony has been transformed to depict a variety of celestial themes

in our ministry, here is a look at a few of our arrangements earlier this year:

Smile: A school teacher injured his back and had to wear a plaster cast around the upper part of his body. It fit under his shirt and was not noticeable at all. On the first day of school, still with the cast under his shirt, he found himself assigned to the toughest students in school. Walking confidently into the rowdy classroom, he opened the window as wide as possible and then busied himself with desk work. When a strong breeze made his tie flap, he took the desk stapler and stapled the tie to his chest. He had no trouble with discipline that year.
