In Germany millions were out of work, and the government was weak. And this gave Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party a chance to come to power. Hitler was good at persuading people to join his party. Hitler persuaded Germans that Germany was going to be a better place to live. Hitler attracted the unemployed, young, and people of the middle class (small store owners and office employees etc.) to join his party. The party's rise to power was quick and at first the Nazis were unknown. The Nazis didn't win that many votes that took place in 1924. On January 30th 1933 Hitler became chancellor and he was ahead of the government. Germany thought Adolf Hitler was their new savior. During the time he was in power he made it so that the police were able to do the stuff that the Nazis were able to do. He persuaded his Cabinet to end freedom of individuals, speech and assembly. And now the authorities could read e-mails, listen in on telephone conversations, and search homes without a warrant. Many young who were unemployed joined the Nazi Stormtroopers. They liked wearing the brown suits and the high leather boots. The auxiliary policemen, SA, went into the streets and beat up people who spoke or acted against the Nazi regime.The SA silenced the other Germans who didn't support the Nazis. The Nazis used the Protective Squad to help reign terror. And the Protective Squad soon became a special guard for Hitler. The SS (the Protective Squad) formed smaller more elite groups. The SS soon became SA, then later became concentration camp guards.
