The Myth of RecyclingWhat is “The Myth of Recycling?”When you send your newspaper, your cardboard boxes and plastic containers to the recyclers, they recycle it right?

They turn it into new stuff, right?

When you take your computer and TV to a recycler they render it down to make new stuff, right.

Well, the answer is. “Sort of.”

“Recycling in the dumps,” by Matthias Gafni, 11/02/2008

We see that all that papers we so carefully put into the right container, were being shipped to China, and with the downturn in the world economy, China is not accepting our “Stuff.”

So, now we are running out of space to store “our Stuff”.

The Myth of RecyclingWhat about the Computers and the TVs we took to the recyclers? Well, they too are being shipped to China. 60 Minutes, “The Electronic Wasteland”http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=4586903nOrSee our “interesting Links” page at http://ecyclesystems.com/?page_id=50

The Myth of Recycling

What happens if we can’t ship our “recyclables” off to someone else?

When it comes to e-waste such as Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs): Mostly they will be ground-up and put in the nations landfill.

PCBs will create Dioxins and Toxic waste is put in our landfill

Page 6: The Myth Of Recycling

How can this be, you ask? Simple, it is done all the time.

In the landfill business, they have a saying“The solution to pollution is dilution.” That usually translates to dumping the ground-up e-waste with other landfill to “reduce” the parts per million (ppm) of hazardous mater, thus they say, “the problem is solved”But the Dioxin is still there

Inert Slag

Or, using the eCycle System’s “Green Box” solution, PCBs can be rendered into, high yield gold ore, high yield copper ore and inert slag
