THE BEGINNING….

It was the time when English were ruling India.

No MC Donald or Pizza Hut.

A Parsi Banker employed a person to bring Home made food to site of work.

His colleagues too liked this idea & started availing this service.

Slowly this evolved into the present 5000 strong Dabbawala system

MEDGE AS A LEADER..!!

In 2004 they went to prestigious IIM in London to give a presentation to management students.

In Tamil Nadu ,in an expert talk Raghunath addressed a gathering in Erode on the success story of their organisation .

There he said that they could not afford to commit a mistake because a mistake meant a stomach went empty without food.

SUCCESS MANTRAS-HONESTY & DEDICATION

Medge was addressing aspirants at the National Career Fair organised at Tower Hall in Ranchi.

He said that the profession of tiffin box transportation begun around in 1890 and since then this trade has been successfully running due to the utmost honesty & dedication of the employees.

He also said “like in our trade ,in management too you have to fight against time to deliver the best result & thus here comes the rule of dedication and honesty”. He said time management was necessary in executing any kind of work.

WHY DOES DABBAWALA’S ONLY INCLUDE MALE STAFF?

Women workers made gradual inroads into other areas of industry,and housing and lifestyle patterns changed as Mumbai went from being a hive of male labour to a place women and families could lay some claim to.But long after the mills had women running their looms and housewives overseeing canteens in chawls ,the dabbawalahs remained a singularly male organisation.
