It is a time for us all to reflect on all our parts and roles in allowing, supporting, and sustaining abuse in our societies. We pray for all who have suffered. Learning from Pope Francis Millions and millions of people from all kinds of backgrounds and cultures admire Pope Francis to such an extent that Time Magazine (an International Publication) declared him Person of the Year after only nine months of his Pontificate. People ask what is it in him that attracts such regard. He was elected to perform the most difficult task in the world - to renew one of the oldest institutions - the Catholic Church - and that at the age of 76 when most people retire. What qualities in this man have charmed the minds and hearts of so many people ? Why has he become a role model for all Christians? What are some of the qualities in him we can all apply to ourselves in our efforts to follow Jesus. His simplicity appeals to many people. Together with his simplicity goes his humility. He has a deep love for the poor. He is a person with great determination. He is a man of God. He is an outstanding leader with the power of humble service. Wisdom is very much part of his personality. He is a man of action. He is a warm person, full of love. He is a forgiving person. He is authoritative but not authoritarian - he helps people to grow. These are qualities we could all nurture in ourselves. Judge not and you shall not be judged. Love others as I have loved you. Sixmilebridge G.A.A.
