I look forward to seeing each of you at the November meeting. We will hold our new member induction, have a fellowship, and kick off our South Dallas Leadership Insti-tute. A big thank you to all the club sisters who attended the October meeting and agreed to have the BPW Institute as a program this year. The institute will provide newer members and any current members with leadership training and skills. This has become more critical as we face the hard facts that every business and industry are fac-ing: it is hard to find good people. I believe we have good and committed people in South Dallas BPW. Now we just need to provide them the training that will allow them to assume some of the positions. I will be calling on you to assist with this pro-gram.

It is once again the season of thanks.“Thank you “to Marion Hill, our First Vice Presi-dent and all the committee chairs for stepping up to the plate and delivering quality programs. Watch for our December special edition of “The Informer,” which will up-date you on many of the programs that took place this fall. I thank each of you who stepped forward to participate in our programs or spread the name of South Dallas through your generous giving and service to the community. These programs could not happen without you. Special thanks also to the numerous unsung club sisters who participated in city council meetings or who helped hold the feet of the Dallas ISD to the fire by attending School Board meetings. Thanks to all those who stepped forward to register voters, give directions and participate in voter education programs. Even as I write this some of you are preparing for our service to nations in Africa.. Some are ensuring that we will be able to provide scholarships to deserving youth later this spring while others are studying how we can support educators and stu-dents. Some of you are working with our dynamic youth club as they learn to become productive adult, Sometimes I am simply overwhelmed with gratitude when I look at all you do. What is even more overwhelming is that you try to do more and more - here and around the world. What an amazing group of sisters you are! Finally I thank our every patient and generous Ombudsman. There are none better in the entire Association! I thank God for the blessing of all your support, friendship and dedication. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. At your service, Yvonne C. Emanuel President

Please remember all our club sisters and ombudsmen in prayer as you go through your daily activities. Pray for our youth. Say a special prayer for our community and nation. This devotion is based on Ecclesiastes 3:1: “ To everything there is a season…”

A beautiful maple tree grows in our front yard. During the spring and sum-mer, it provides much-needed shade. In the autumn, its beauty springs forth in bright colors. However, as the leaves change into beautiful colors, they also fall to the ground. On fall mornings, I rake the leaves but by af-ternoon, the yard is covered in leaves again. Then during the winter, the tree endures the harsh weather. In spring, new growth emerges and the cycle starts all over.

Our lives follow cycles like the tree. God's Spirit helps us grow and mature. God uses the trials of life to make us wiser and complete. In our "autumns," God picks up the pieces of our shattered lives and makes something beautiful. In our "winters," God gives us the strength to endure even the harshest circumstances of life. And, in our "springs," God breathes new life into us.

God is with us during all the cycles of our life - to provide a refuge from life's trials and to equip us to do our best. And time after time when we stumble, God is there to gather us up, redirect our lives, and provide us with strength to meet life's challenges.
