David become a member with the RBL 15 years ago and was soon involved with
the poppy appeal, delivering boxes to the shop and factories around the town,
and the trading estates. He used to joke that the RBL owned him shoe leather
after an other trip by bus to replenish some poppies.
-In 2011 he become the Branch Standard Bearer and was seen on Remembrance
day and civic parades, On many of them he got wet while the rest of us shelter
under umbrellas and he hated high winds because it took all his strength to stop
the standard taking off. Over the years he began to stoop but as soon as he put
on his black suit he straighten up-He was saw proud of what he did.
It will seem strange doing the poppies this year without him, but the branch have
already ordered this years stock and as you all saw at Lark in the Park I will health
allowing be doing next years fates-
MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT EVENING
The Village Hall is organising another musical entertainment evening on Friday October 28th. HARMONY LINCS is a men's barbershop chorus from Lincoln. There are about 30 men in the chorus singing in four part harmony making a fantastic sound, technically quite difficult, it takes a lot of practice to get it right! HARMONY LINCS came top in their group at this year's national convention and also won the award for the second most improved chorus. The musical director, Jeremy Curtis, is part of a well known musical family from Gainsborough, and if you look carefully you may spot a Morton resident in the chorus! The evening starts at 7.30pm, the cost is £6.00 in advance, £7.00 on the door, to include a glass of wine or fruit juice in the interval. To book please telephone Geoff on 811167 or Jenny on 616890. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx NEWPARKINSON’SDISEASESUPPORTGROUP

There is still time to join in with our `Go Yellow for St Barnabas’ campaign. The colour yellow has long been associated with the hospice movement and represents happiness, energy and positivity, which is what we hope to be for our patients and their families. We would like to encourage everyone in the community to get involved by doing something yellow and it couldn't be simpler;
whether you have a yellow dress down day, dress up like a minion, hold a yellow bake sale or bathe in a bath of custard, there are lots of things you can do to Go Yellow! Alternatively why not sell our `Go Yellow’ wristbands (£1 each) in your place of work? So join together with your classmates, work colleagues, family and friends and help us to paint Lincolnshire yellow! I would love to hear your ideas and I am happy to support you with these. Join us at our Gainsborough Hospice Coffee Morning at the George Henderson Lodge Morton on Thursday 6th October, 10am-12noon for a morning of delicious homemade cakes and coffee. Peruse our stalls and take a turn on the tombola or raffle. This is also a great opportunity to take a look round our Hospice and find out more about how we help patients and their families in the area living with a life limiting illness. On Wednesday 9th November come along with friends to our Ladies Lunch in the beautiful surroundings of Hemswell Court, Hemswell Cliff. Find that unique present for Christmas or even to treat yourself at our local craft & gifts stalls before enjoying a delicious two course lunch. Then sit back and be entertained, by the county’s favourite author, Margaret Dickinson. Margaret found her niche; writing romantic fiction and bringing to
life her love of the sea, the Lincolnshire landscape and its people. To find out more and to book a place go to www.stbarnabashospice.co.uk/hemslunch or contact With Thanks for your continuing support. Caroline Swindin Community Events Fundraiser Mobile: 07435 970309 email: [email protected]
