Dear ABC Mississippi Members: We have had an exciting year at ABC Mississippi. Your chapter remains one of

the largest and most well respected chapters in the country. Your staff continues to monitor the legislative process for our industry and was actively working 28 bills this past legislative session dealing with topics ranging from procurement, workers’ compensation, excavation, residency requirements and bonding. We also reintroduced the Construction Coalition Legislative Reception to allow our members the access they desire to our state legislative leaders. In order to retain our influence at the state Capitol we would also encourage everyone to include the voluntary $100 contribution to our state PAC. This will ensure ABC Mississippi has a clear voice of representation for the construction industry.

ABC Merit Choice Insurance Trust provided insurance and benefits for 65 of our member companies covering over six hundred merit shop employees. One hundred twenty-six of our members also continued to utilize our workers’ compensation benefits underwritten through AmFed Insurance.

Our networking events were in full swing and we have had record attendance at over 20 events allowing our members to visit with their industry peers. The discount programs are being heavily utilized as members have saved in excess of $268,000 over the past year. We also awarded over 70 safety awards and over 50 merit awards to our members showcasing their dedication to providing a safe workplace and just a few of the outstanding projects ABC members have constructed this past year. The board has also put in place board composition goals in an effort to make sure ABC Mississippi continues to be THE construction association which represents the entire industry through the Merit Shop philosophy.

We are excited about the trajectory of our organization and would like to make next year the year we hit our goal of 90% retention. We look forward to having you on board to help us reach that goal and many more as we continue to strive to make ABC Mississippi the go to source for the construction industry in Mississippi. Thank you as always for your dedication to ABC Mississippi as we fight for the Merit Shop philosophy and free enterprise system.
