In the opinion of the German industry association BITKOM, an important IT trend for 2009 is the increasing mobility of applications.

Blaupunkt’s developers recognized this trend early on and together with miRoamer, they are bringing the whole world of music the car – having presented the world’s first Internet Car Radios at CeBIT in 2009.

The smartphone phenomenon

Apples iPhone™ – and in particular the app store – has led a revolution in the way we access media. Mobile now truly means mobile, and other smartphone manufacturers have moved to launch similar, competitive products and services.

miRoamer’s interface and content structure places it in an ideal position to take advantage of this exciting and developing media platform.

As a business to business provider, we are developing our iPhone application to a point where we can add it into the suite of products we offer to our partners and business customers.

In doing so, we have established a development roadmap with three increasing levels of sophistication.

All developments are native to the latest iPhone operating system, 3GS.

Version 1

Version 1.0 has been released internally as a demonstration of concept – to gather OEM and other partner feedback regarding the product.

The objective is that the user is able to:

• successfully find and play their stations easily and intuitively.

• store stations for future quick access.

• search for a station by name and display basic station information.

Version 2

Version 2.0 of the miRoamer iPhone aims to serve the content in a smart, customized and easy way to the end user.

The user is armed with more powerful search tools and the content will carry much richer information. An EPG will be introduced to give the users more options to get their desired content faster and more easily.

This version will be running on the enhanced miRoamer back end system, providing not only comprehensive media content information but also superior search capability.

Furthermore it provides content filtering capabilities for different device types.

The objective of version 2.0 is to provide quality, local and customized content with significantly smarter access to content.

Version 3

Version 3.0 aims to allow users to share, manage and purchase content that has been supplied to them in version 2.0.

The app will further enhance the content search capability and provide smarter browsing and content refining tools

It will also allow for sharing of content via social networking sites.

How our iPhone app will work for you

miRoamer will be providing iPhone application technology to all its partners.

There are a number of ways that you might take advantage of this capability.

1. Extend your brand

As an OEM or distributor, you will gain a captive audience as long as your listener is engaged with your device.

By extending your service through an iPhone App, you can extend your relationship with that consumer to wherever they may be.

Since our iPhone app takes advantage of the same miRoamer engine, your customers’ user profiles will be instantaneously available to them once they log on and the customised content they have created on your other devices will also be mirrored on the iPhone.

2. Build it into your iPhone app

Chances are, you either have considered building or are currently building an iPhone app to support your brand positioning or your sales/marketing strategy in some way.

3. Enable your existing devices

A cost effective and rapid way of entering the internet radio market is to use the iPhone as an enabler of your existing devices – devices that may not have their own monitors or are not even internet enabled.
