We continue to work toward the thirty-year vision of build-ing a new Ministry Center. With the recent completion of the Sanctuary and Rodman House renovations, design and construction of a the new Ministry Center is the final phase of the Generation to Generation Campaign that needs to be completed. As a reminder, we are building the Ministry Center for the follow-ing reasons:• McGill Hall is inadequate for a parish of our

size and our current needs.• To serve the parish and wider Vienna

community by providing needed functional space for:Current parish and community events, classes and meetings.Current programs for seniors, singles, families, youth, and children.Current programs for feeding ministries, mission, Hypothermia Prevention Shelter, etc.Current Preschool, Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School classes.

• A space to allow for growth—to serve the parish and community.

As we make progress on the Ministry Center, we will provide presentations, floor plans, and images, as well as project updates in the Narthex so that you can remain informed of our progress.

Site Plan ApprovalIn January, 2017 we held an informational session with our neighbors to share our plans with them in advance of the town of Vienna public hearings. We worked closely with the town of Vienna Department of Planning and Zoning on all of the documents required to obtain site plan approval. The Planning Commission public hearing and Board of Zoning Appeals submission was completed in February. The Board of Architectural Review took place in April and we have obtained final site plan approval from the town of Vienna.

The Ministry Center

MTFA Architects, which is leading the design team, completed the second of three phases of design and has begun the final stage of design. The design team includes all of the consultants required to complete the design of the building’s architectural, mechanical, electrical and structural components and systems.

In September, 2016 the Ministry Center Committee obtained input from various ministries on the proposed Ministry Center design and provided comments to the MTFA design team. Based on that input, we then hired a kitchen design and equipment consultant to refine the kitchen plans. We have submitted the final kitchen design to MTFA.

The Ministry Center Committee also worked with a number of contractors for the purpose of making a selection of one contractor to provide pre-construction services. After vetting the contractors, Whitener & Jackson, Inc. was selected and we signed a contract for pre-construction services on December 9, 2016. During the pre-construction service phase, Whitener & Jackson, the Ministry Center Committee, and the MTFA design team will work together to refine the final phase of design to ensure we get the best design possible within our budget.

At the same time, the Finance Committee has been focusing both on the interim financing required for construction and on a long-term loan which will be required after construction is completed. The Ministry Center Committee and CHC’s staff have been providing the required information to the Finance Committee so that we can obtain financing at a competitive rate. The Vestry and the Finance Committee will provide an update as we learn more.

Below is our preliminary project schedule for completing the Ministry Center. The schedule is subject to change but we will keep you updated as the project proceeds.
