Laid great emphasis on family relations

Slaves became almost citizens

Divided up land to peasants

No taxations to those who cultivated wastelands

Cultivated land grew to a high no other dynasty has ever reached because of this

Made irrigation systems

Implemented important farming taxations systems “yellow records” and “fish scale records”

Wei-so system gave all soldiers much land and encouraged farming

Zheng He led several naval expeditions on the Indian Ocean and Southeast Asian archipelago

Reformed Government

Built the great wall of China, well added to it since it had been a work in progress for many years prior

Created networks of secret agents in the military

Reasons For Decline:

Hong Wu kicked all others out of power, placing all responsibility on himself

Those crazy Manchurians were all over China

Peasant uprisings

Economic troubles

Riots

Corrupt officials

The last emperor of the Ming Dynasty committed suicide
