THE MESSENGER

APOSTOLIC ASSEMBLY / COSTA RICA January, 2011

A SMALL HISTORICAL NOTE: Towards the end of the decade of the fifties, a small group of Costa Rican brethren received the Jesus’ name revelation through the teachings of a pastor from Panama. For several years these brethren worked independently. At the beginning of the year 1962, this group was visited by Brother Daniel Jauhall, a Missionary from the Apostolic Assembly, who at that time resided in Panama. Through several meetings Brother Jauhall taught them the Apostolic Assembly doctrine and formally established the work in Costa Rica. Thereafter the Apostolic Assembly sent several Missionaries, to unite with the local pastors, and together worked towards expanding the work of God. In the year 2003, the decision was made for Missionary Alfred Muñoz and his family to transfer from Costa Rica to Mexico. With this decision, the nearly forty year period of supervision of Missionaries sent to them, from the Apostolic Assembly of the United States came to a close. Today, the church in Costa Rica continues to work under the direction of their national leadership, with the supervision of International Missions.

NATIONAL ELECTORAL CONVENTION: San Jose, Costa Rica The Apostolic Assembly and the International delegations were summoned to celebrate the XIX National Convention in the beautiful city of San Jose, Costa Rica. It started on Wednesday afternoon, as the brethren and the international delegations arrived. Everything was ready for the anticipated celebration of this powerful spiritual festivity. The activities began on Thursday evening with a conference directed to the church’s leadership. This conference was given by Bishop Arthur Espinosa, the Secretary of International Missions; there was an approximate attendance of 350 pastors and leaders.

XIX National Convention-“Faithful to My God, Faithful to My Church”

Friday January 21 / Napoleon Quesada School Auditorium

The inaugural service began at 6:00 pm with a civic and folkloric presentation that included the singing of the Costa Rican National Anthem. Throughout the entire auditorium you could feel an ambience of worship and expectancy. The speaker for this evening was Bishop Alfred Muñoz, the supervisor of the Northwest District and also the former Missionary to Costa Rica from 1999 - 2003. Bishop Muñoz was greatly used of God. He entitled his message “Relationship or Religion” based on John 3: 1-4. During the altar call there were many healings, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and God blessing His people in a very special way. Among the many testimonies, there was the wife of one of the pastors who had an issue of blood for over six months; the moment the name of Jesus was invoked upon her she was healed!
