History and Operation
Launched 2007 to encourage innovation and good practice in the use of media in education by a dedicated community of practitioners
Organised Secretariat located in ATiT and managed on a day-to-day basis by Nikki Cortoos, Core organising group meets monthly and a wider list of advisory group members and supporting organisations

Judging Criteria
• The MEDEA Awards judges recognisethe primary role of
effective and innovative educational design in the use of
moving images with learners. • The judges will be looking for materials
and approaches that demonstrate original and successful use of
media with learners to achieve clearly defined educational outcomes

5 Criteria – marked 0 - 5
• Pedagogical Quality: quality of didactics and of communication, clear learning objective? Will material result in good learning?
• Use of Media: the choice and selection of media, type of media chosen used appropriately and in exemplary fashion?
• Aesthetic Quality: attractiveness of materials, style and design consistent and appropriate for target users? Appealing?
• Usability: intuitiveness of the material, easy to use the application? Is there support, guidelines, feedback or help?
• Technical Quality: flaws in the system? compatibility issues? necessity to have advanced technical knowledge?

• 36 judges from 11 countries
• Each received between 6 –11 entries
• All entries judged by 3 judges
• Approx 30 minutes for entry and supporting materials
