Experience the Middle Ages as history comes to life. You will meet Lady Joan, the Knights, her Jester, and her Falconer. Live demonstrations of ancient weaponry will be conducted. Have fun and get educated at the same time. This is a hands-on experience for the whole family as they discover another time together. Costumes encouraged. Photos are a MUST! Starting June 1 readers ages 0-18 and their parents are eligible to join. Readers can sign up as a team of 1-6 people. The team goal is to read 1,500 pages. Team members will earn some fun treats as they work toward their goal. Complete the goal, and your team can attend “Pool Party Movie Night” at the Matteson Community Center. The goals of the program are to encourage patrons to read for pleasure, to help students maintain and improve their reading skills, to encourage them to become lifelong readers and library users, and to establish reading as a foundation for academic success. Tech Playground June 4-July 28Anytime the library is open. Stop by and try out some of the library’s cool tech toys like our Snap Circuits, Digital Cameras, Google Cardboard VR, and more.

Animal Camera Hunt June 4-July 28 Anytime the library is open. Come have fun “hunting” for animals with the library’s digital cameras. Each week is a different challenge to find specific animals hidden around the Youth Services Department and to take their pictures. Your photos will be displayed at the library.

Bingo Saturdays, 6/16, 6/30, 7/28 1-3 PMBring the whole family! Older kids and adults will enjoy the fast-paced excitement, while younger children can become more familiar with numbers and letters. We’ll have lots of (small) prizes to give away, so come play “B-4” they’re all gone!

Board Games Saturdays, 6/23, 7/21 1-3 PMJoin us for afternoons of gaming – board games, card games, and video games. You can play games like Checkers, Connect 4, UNO, and Monopoly. You can also challenge your friends in video games. Feel free to bring board/card games from home.
