CYCLE B JULY 12, 2015

15th Sunday in Ordinary Time

"He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking

stick-no food, no sack, no money in their belts." Jesus gave the Twelve

Apostles a remarkable mission. He sent them out two by two to preach

repentance, to cast out evil spirits, and to heal the sick. And he made

them do it in a spirit of complete dependence upon God. They were not

allowed to take anything along that would have given them material

comfort or security. These men--who did not even have the witness of

other apostles or saints to inspire or give them courage, and who had not

yet beheld the Resurrection of the Lord--stepped out into the world with

literally nothing but their faith in this man

named Jesus. And look what happened!

"The Twelve drove out many demons, and

they anointed with oil many who were sick

and cured them."

The apostles' trust in God's power to work

these miracles through their hands began with trust in God's power to

provide for their own needs. Because they didn't have food, shelter, or

money, every time they received food or shelter or had their needs met,

the apostles were able to see that God was at work in their midst. This

experience bolstered their faith and encouraged them in their mission.

When we find ourselves questioning whether we really have the "power"

to do what God wants us to do, then we ought to step back and try to de-

pend a little more directly upon God's providence. Tithing is one way to

accomplish this. When we set aside a portion of our income for the sake

of others, we make an act of trust in God's power to provide for us.

Surrendering this element of care for ourselves allows God to meet our

needs himself. And when he does, our faith will flourish too.

World Meeting of Families-

Philadelphia 2015 – Save the Date!

Mark your family calendar for the 8th

World Meeting of Families! Philadelphia

is proud to welcome Pope Francis

and families from around the world to

this event on September 22-27, 2015.

Why should you consider attending this

epic event?

Archbishop Chaput from Philadelphia explains why in this way.

“As families, we need to teach our children that what we do

becomes who we are. We need to share more and acquire

less. We need to unplug a little from the network of noise that

surrounds us. And we need to create the room for a silence

that we can fill with conversation; conversation with each

other and with God.

We can’t do this alone. And therein lies the tremendous value

of families coming together to reinforce each other’s vocation,

to deepen their faith and to experience the presence of God.

This is the mission of the World Meeting of Families: to show

the joy of authentic family life to the world, and to invite others

from around the world to share in it.”

Family can look forward to being with Pope Francis, speakers,

celebrations, family friendly activities and prayer, all of which

will bring renewal and transformation for you, your loved ones,

and the world. Visit the official World Meeting of Families web-

site at: WorldMeeting2015.org to learn more about the event.

Then go to www.diolc.org/wmof/ and learn about the great

travel package that our diocese.

If you are an adult or know of an adult in need of Baptism, or have been baptized in another Christian

tradition and may be interested in becoming Catholic, or are a Catholic in need of First Communion and

Confirmation, we invite you to journey in faith with us through the Rites of Christian Initiation of Adults,

(RCIA).

Centered on fostering a deep relationship with Jesus Christ and the Church, the RCIA is the process

established for you to learn what it means to be Catholic, what the Church teaches and why, find answers to some of life’s most

difficult questions, grow in prayer, and be introduced to some members of our parish family. If you do discern that God is calling

you to the Church, the RCIA process will provide you with the preparation and formation needed to become Catholic and receive

the sacraments of initiation – Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.

*Please note, if you are an adult who is only need of completing your initiation through the Sacrament of Confirmation or who is

fully initiated but has been away from the Church and interested in returning, know that we have separate ministries to welcome

you into or back to the fullness of our Church. If you would like more information or to sign up for the RCIA process please call

Janet at the Parish Center, 715 842-3148. Classes will begin in September, Monday evenings. Register now, forms are available

at the Parish Center.

CATECHISTS FOR 2015-2016

has steadily been growing. Last

year we served over 170 students

in grades K-10. We anticipate a

similar enrollment in 2015-16.

volunteers to provide the faith

formation our family are entrusting

us to do.

Many parts of the puzzle must

come together before August. There

is a lot to do!

We need YOU!

Please consider volunteering

as a catechist or an aide.

No experience necessary, we

will provide training and

materials. The time commitment

is 2-3 hours a week.

Classes are on Wednesday

nights beginning on September 9th. Please call Patricia at

715-574-3131 to get started.

The rewards are endless!

funda

liberación adquiere mayor

sensibilidad ante las necesidades

de los demás".

Si analizamos bien este mensaje po-

dremos comprender que la historia de

la salvación se ha llevado a realizar

por medio de un proceso de enviar. En

la primera alianza, Dios envió patriar-

cas, reyes y profetas. De esta forma se

hizo presente su presencia. Luego en-

vió a su Hijo Jesucristo, y él a su vez

envió a sus discípulos. Les preparó

para salir de dos en dos y con un men-

saje claro y sencillo: curar, dar con-

suelo y acompañar.

Mensaje, misión y discipulado. Por nuestro bautismo el com-

promiso vale para ti y para mí. También somos enviados cada

domingo al terminar la Eucaristía. El sacerdote o el diácono

nos envían con esta o diferente frase. "La alegría del Señor

sea nuestra fuerza.
