DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION LYNX
The Lynx is a mammal that has a short tail, furry ruffs, and special paws that are so big the helps it stay on top of the snow and swim. It weighs about 80-90 pounds and is twice the size of a bobcat. Their fur is usually brown and gray, but it depends on what their habitat looks like.
HABITAT
Their habitat is a little different because the lynx doesn’t build its home. It mostly lives inside evergreen forests and sleeps on rock ledges or in trees. It usually lives in Canada, Alaska, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, or Wyoming.
DIET
The lynx will eat whenever they get a chance, but they very much prefer meat. It helps that they have very sharp teeth and long legs. That helps it catch and hold its prey tightly.
LIFE CYCLE
The Lynx’s life cycle is very important. Did you know that the lynx only lives up to be about 10-15 years old? When they’re cubs, they usually have up to 2-4 brothers and sisters and their mother usually only feeds them and protects them when they feel necessary.
When the cubs are born they are mostly blind and usually are born in a dark place or hollow tree. After about two months it will have gained its sight and will be able to go outside. Then, after about a year they will learn how to play, hunt, and soon leave its home.
OTHER INTERESTING FACTS
THE LYNX’S CLOSEST RELATIVES ARE THE BOBCAT, THE CARACAL, AND THE SIBERIAN LYNX
IT ALSO HAS LONG POINTED EARS WITH BLACK TIPS AT THE TOP TO HEAR THE SOFTEST SOUNDS.
