Pastor ’s Thoughts

On Wednesday, May 28, 2014 we held our Congregational Event as part of the Call Process, an event was
designed to help the congregation of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in preparing to call our new
Pastor.
Bishop Herman Yoos and Ginny Aebischer led us through a series of questions and discussions to help us
identify where we are as a congregation today and what our goals and hopes are for the congregation go-
ing forward. To recap, the discussions centered on the following:
What are our greatest hopes? What significant wounds do we have?
What would make you want to be more involved in the church? What could we be doing better in mis-
sion with God?
What things do we need to let go of? What things do we need to start doing?
All of the responses have been compiled into a single document and are available in the Church Office
should you want to see them. In summary, most of the responses for each of the discussions fell into one
of the following categories:
Unity- to feel a part of a Church family, stronger relationships, to feel we belong
Spiritual growth and focus on God’s will– vibrant faith for youth, for adults, and for all members,
Forgiveness – to let go of the past and old wounds, to use those lessons learned to make us stronger in
our mission
Outreach – to make stronger our outreach to our members, active and inactive, and to our community
Change – to be open minded, to be involved, and to adapt to today’s environment
The Call Committee will use these responses in their efforts to identify a pastor for us, but it is important
that the outcome of the Congregational event not stop there. All of us in this congregation must get in-
spired. We can do this if we all open our hearts to the Holy Spirit
We thank you for your time and participation and most importantly for your prayers as we continue to-
gether on our mission.
Blessings and Peace,
George Summmer Erin Whitaker
Chairman, Call Committee Chairman, Church Council
