Thanks!!! Thanks to all the families who worked in the Randall County Junior Livestock Show Conces-sion Stand. Also thanks to everyone who pur-chased food and drinks from it. We had a very successful year, and we couldn’t have done it without you!
Concession stand proceeds benefit all 4-H members and fund many project needs (contests, awards etc.) in Randall County like the Clothing & Textile & Food & Nutrition pro-jects, registration fee reimbursement for State Roundup Contestants, County Gold Star Schol-arships, the annual Achievement Banquet, Randall County Roundup and so much more.
4-Hers, Parents and Volunteers . . .
Thank you for yet another successful show and sale! We are so proud of everyone who com-peted and thankful for everyone’s tireless efforts! This wouldn’t be a successful program without the help of many people; so, thank you all and good luck to everyone headed to the majors!

Expanded Day Learning is “Mad for Science” in 2019-2020
Expanded Learning Day (ELD) classes began again in February. This year students will study energy—its forms and uses. Come help us have fun with rockets, drones, fossils, potato batteries, solar wood burning, compasses, pinhole cameras and many more exciting ways to discover energy.
Classes meet on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4-4:30 p.m. at Reeves-Hinger, Lakeview, City View and Crestview elementary schools. Class dates are from February 4-April 29, 2020. How about sharing your knowledge, expertise, leadership and communication skills with these 3rd and 4th graders? Please contact:
Mary Stephens, Program Leader Expanded Learning Day 468-5543 or [email protected]
We can schedule your service then. You’ll be in for a “Mad, Mad, Mad” time with science!

Youth Task Force Opportunities In an effort to provide more leadership opportunities at the district level for high school 4-H members, they are going to test out Youth Task Forces for some of the con-tests that require more personnel. Duds to Dazzle and Fashion Show will be the guinea pigs.
Participation will be limited to 3 applicants on each task force. You do not necessarily have to participate in the projects to be on their task force but applicants may not be competing in either of these contests . Contact Bail-ee Wright, [email protected], for a Task Force application. Completed applications are due back to Bailee by March 2nd.

Texas 4-H Opportunity Scholarship Program
The Texas 4-H Opportunity Scholarship application went live November 1st. Additional rules and guidelines are available on the Texas 4-H Foundation website: texas4h-foundation.org under the Scholarships tab.
How to apply: Go to the texas4hfoundation.org website and click “Scholarships” then select the type of scholar-ship you are interested in (i.e. Baccalaureate, Technical, Courageous Heart or Collegiate). There will be an “Apply” button on each of the pages that will take you to the new Texas 4-H Foundation Scholarship Portal. You will then create a profile.
For uploaded documents, they need to be one page in length. If you have an applicant using the text boxes within the application, they do have to follow the charac-ter count. The text box does count spaces as characters so the list type questions were given a higher character count to account for those additional needed spaces.
You will be uploading documents to your application and it is important that you do not name your file with any identifying information other than the application ID you created. When saving your documents, please be sure NOT to include your name, school, town, county or dis-trict in your file name. The preferred format for your file name is document subject.application identifier. For example: SAT.KG0311 FAFSA.KG0311 4H Projects.KG0311
Additional instructions on how to apply are available on each of the scholarship pages. Applicants must have their application reviewed by their CEA and have their CEA complete the CEA Verification Form . The applicant will need to upload this form with their application. The form is available to print from the Foundation website under the “Apply” button on the Scholarship page or from within their application. You now have the option to upload a pdf document for responses that are better suited in a table format.

What’s Happening
Ft Worth, San Angelo and San Antonio Stock Show Passes
are ready to be picked up at the Extension Office.
Remember, we can not mail them
so come by the office to get yours.
4-H Academic Eligibility You must be enrolled in 4-H and be making passing grades in school be-fore you can compete in any 4-H contest. The reason we ask you to notify us so early that you want to compete in contests is because we must check with your school to see if you are passing at least two weeks in advance of the contest. Extension sends a letter to your school with the contest name, date and whether competition will require you to miss any school. We can not excuse you from school unless you have enrolled in 4-H.
Don’t forget that it is still your responsibility to let your school know the exact dates you will be absent from school so they will know how to code your absence. If they don’t know why you’re not at school, you may be given an unexcused absence. You should also get assignments from your teachers before leaving.
If you are not academically eligible to compete, the school will notify a county agent who will let one of your parents know that there is a problem with your grades.

You must bring a copy of your current Coggins before you’ll be allowed to participate in the riding portion of the night. Contact the horse project leader in charge of these weekly events, Chey-enne Lueb, 433-5485 or [email protected], if you have any questions.

4-H Connect Open for 4-H Enrollment
Enrolling 4-H youth in your family now costs $30. (Clover Kids enrollment will still be free.) To enroll your child in 4-H, go to
texas.4honline.com. Important things to remember about enrolling in 4-H:
• If you have been enrolled in 4-H, you already have a family profile and it is not necessary to build another. Please use this old family profile to reenroll. If you can’t remember your password, you can call the Extension Office and we’ll reset your password then you can change it to one you will remember in the future.
• Be sure to fill in all the forms in 4-H enrollment. Information is not required on the medical form, but it does have to have a date and a signa-ture for it to be valid.
• If you wish to receive a copy of the monthly 4-H newsletter in the mail, please edit your family’s profile and choose mail as your correspond-ence preference. Also, if you have someone else you would like to keep informed about 4-H like a grandparent or anyone else not living with you, place that email in the second household email field.
• 4-H Leaders need to enroll each year also. Every three years, a background check will need to be run on leaders. Trainings are good for 2 years.
