Lola went to school the next day. All the other giraffes made fun of her and left her out of there games. They called Lola names and giggled when she would walk by them.

Lola got to her cubby to put her coat and her lunch box away. The teacher told the kids good morning and to take a seat so she could begin class. Lola took a seat and pulled out her homework that was due. She passed her homework forward and sat there quietly. All the other giraffes were whispering back and forth. Lola knew that they were talking about her.

The bell rang. It was finally lunch time. All the giraffes pushed and shoved to get their lunch boxes. They ran to the lunch room.

They all sat down by their friends. They giggled, whispered, and chattered as they ate. Lola was all alone. She didn’t have anyone to sit by to talk with.

Lunch was now over. All the giraffes cleaned up and ran outside to fool around with their friends. They played a variety of games. Lola sat off to the side and watched all the other giraffes participate in recess. If only she had a friend.

I don’t have anyone to play with. I have to play all alone. If only I had a friend to play with. I would push them down the slide and we would laugh and giggle. Ugh! If only I had a friend.

It was time to go home now. Lola couldn’t wait to get home. She had something in mind. Something that was a creative idea and no one would ever think of Lola the same again.

Lola opened the bag of chocolate chips and placed them all over her body as if they were real spots. She placed each one on her with love and care. As she placed them on she took a couple and placed them on her tongue to eat her self

Lola ran into the bathroom to get a glimpse of her new look. She gazed into the mirror. She was so excited she just couldn’t hide it. She started to twirl in circles and she danced around the bathroom.

Lola sat down with her family and had cereal. Her mom and dad both gave her a funny look and asked what happened? Lola explained to them that she isn't like all those other giraffes and how she wishes she had friends to play with like all of the other giraffes at school

Lola's mom and dad pulled her to the bathroom and told her to get into the shower. When she is done cleaning herself they would need to have a talk with her.

When Lola got out of the shower her mom and dad were waiting for her in the living room. Lola's mom had tears in her eyes.

They told Lola that its okay to be different and that everyone is different in their own way. They explained to Lola that to make real friends she needed to go out and talk to other giraffes. Lola's bus was outside waiting for her. She ran out to the bus and noticed something or someone different. Something she had never seen before. It was different just like Lola. But, it wasn’t her size or shape or even the same color. This was different she thought.

Mrs.Mrs. Grass told the kids that they will be welcoming a new student today. She explained that the new student was a zebra. Mrs. Grass had Zoey the zebra sit right next to her.

Lola and Zoey talked. Lola had a new friend. They were going to be the best of best friends. They stuck up for each other when the other giraffes giggle and whisper. They had each others backs. They were the best of friends. They shared secrets. They played with each other at recess time. They chattered at lunch. They had sleep over's. But, most of all they accepted each other for who they were and that’s what a true friend is. Someone that loves you in your worst moments. A best friend will always have your back!

Hey my Name is Autumn Kridner. I live in El Paso Illinois . My favorite color is yellow. I love giraffes because each giraffe is different and none have that same spot. I love to go running and play outside. I am in cross country. I have one brother named Andy. I love animals. I have a dog that’s a golden retriever named Katie. We love to go on long walks. I got a lot of my ideas from the things I used to do with my dog when she was puppy.
