THE LOCARNO AGREEMENT
Keylor(P.117-118)
A presentation by Charlotte Larson
Germany was willing to make a deal with France
France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, and Belgium met in
October 1925 to make the Locarno pact.
THE LOCARNO PACT
This made Germany France and Belgium acknowledge their
borders with each other
Also gave Germany the Rhineland as long as they agreed to
demilitarize the area.
IMCC was scaled down, French troops were not allowed to
return to German soil.
Everyone got what they wanted
The pact appeared to be a sign of peace between the countries
This would obviously not last.
At this point all of the countries were tied together economically.
Britain even tried to make a treaty with all the countries against war.
The Kellogg-Brians pact was signed by 15 counties on july 27th 1928.
The purpose of this treaty was to end war. Eventually 62 nations signed.
Clearly didn’t end up working
