Different plants in the garden need different types of supports. Some plants need stakes, others need a single stick, some need sturdy cages, while others need a trellis to climb, some need a sling to hold the heavy fruit, some need borders so they do not take over the entire garden, some need you to leave them alone and just let them grow. Different seasons also mean different supports for different plants in the garden. It is the same for the services that we provide at LINX. Some people need help with each step, some just need a reminder, some need clear boundaries, others just need to have the supports of a discussion, at times people just need to talk out what is going on, sometimes people need help with their coat while others need help to build a budget. Everyone needs something different at different times. Today you may need help to get medications picked up at the pharmacy with assistance to understand the directions. Tomorrow you may need help to choose a vacation. You never know. I need your support in a way that I have not needed it before. Yes LINX wears pink for bullying. Yes we wear a purple ribbon for February‘s violence awareness month. But I need us all to be positive, friendly, willing to compromise, being supportive of each other including managers, kind, honest, and as I always say if you make a mess- clean a mess. ~ Ronni

With the AGM only a couple of weeks away, I wanted to remind everyone they are invited to come and hear how the year went, listen to the audit, and support the Board. LINX is very fortunate to have a Board who are here for the right reasons... our clients and the teams around them. They give their time, advice, and above all caring to LINX to ensure the best possible future for our clients. Even if you cannot attend the AGM, please do not pass up the opportunity to thank them when you see them. Finally, and as always, I would like to thank everyone for all of their support, and wish you a happy, healthy and safe Father’s Day month! ~ Nicole

Brandy Cormier states that RADAR and being in tune with your own self is important. If you are in tune with yourself you can be in tune with your clients and the environment. The MANDT Quote that goes with what Brandy is saying is you first have to affirm your feelings and then choose your behaviours.

"I look for the rocks to join my team!" This month I had the pleasure of sitting down with Gayle from Petro Canada in Nisku. Gayle has been a franchise owner

of Petro Canada and A&W for 18 years. She now employs one of our clients Aaron Desjardins, he’s been working for

Gayle for 3 years now.

In our interview, I asked Gayle about what she’s most proud of regarding her team of workers. She stated “there are a

lot of pebbles that walk through the door and I look for the rocks to join my team! Aaron is a rock!” She strives to make

the team a family and work with what strengths

that her staff have and help them build more.

Gayle has worked with Aaron for 3 years. She

spoke of when he first started and how she would

have never dreamed of how far he would come

and how much he has learned. She spoke of how

it is great to have a regular job coach check in and

support Aaron. She has built a very workable

relationship with Aaron and when things arise

with him she’s able to help support him through

it. She talked about the support she feels from

the LINX organization and would tell any potential

business owner who is thinking of employing one

of clients that. “The biggest thing is wanting them

to succeed and giving them the opportunity to do

so, takes some patience but the support from

LINX is wonderful.” I have enjoyed working with

Gayle and Aaron and look forward to continuing

our work relationship in order to support Aaron.

Parents! Clients! Employers! Staff! Neighbours! If you would like to be a part of or refer someone for “Through our Eyes”,

Welcome to our outdoor classroom.

Our photography class has been fortunate

enough to get outside and take advantage of

some of the amazing weather that we have

been having. Here are some photos taken by a

client in the photography class at LINX.

“In the photo to the left the inspiration was

that I felt I was walking into a new beginning

and a fresh start. I did not neccesarily feel this

as I was taking the picture, however when I

looked at it again while editing I realized that

this was why I enjoyed taking pictures of

pathways.”

“This photo is called beautiful.”

~ Teara

“ While taking a walk through a gloomy brown

pathway I noticed these few blooming flowers

which was shocking to me. I immediatley

wanted to photograph it. It was a difficult

picture to take as the branch would not

cooperate, I asked for some help to hold the

branch so I could get the shot I wanted. It was

equally frustrating to edit however once I got

the right colour I knew I would love it.”

“This photo is called renewal”

~ Teara

Ryan Walker! Achieving a life’s dream takes

hard work, and Ryan got it done! He had a dream of becoming a firefighter, and worked hard to get there. He has been a part of the Calmar Fire Department for many years, and still continues to grow and improve his skills with every opportunity. We are proud of you Ryan!!!

Ashley Webb! Ashley is new to our team but has

not been afraid to jump right in! She was the first person to sign up for our Staff Appreciation Day, and quickly offers her help when it’s needed. Thanks so much for your enthusiasm and welcome to the team Ashley!!!

Wal-Mart! Wal-Mart has always been a

wonderful inclusive employer. Even in these tough economic times, they have made room for another position for one of our clients. Thanks for all you do for community inclusion in Leduc!!!

Sally Nickerson! Sally is regularly ready to

pinch hit for respite on short notice, always turns her documentation in on time, provides a home not just a placement for an individual, she is friendly and willing to give an ear, and she also pinch hits for outreach. I truly appreciate having her on the team!!!
