the life of the resurrection .. My Friend

When Christ died on the cross to take away our sins, his resurrection confirmed to all he had finished the work

The resurrection also continued the gospel work, as he offereed his blood to God for our sins and ascended to the right hand of God to pray for us

The resurrection of Christ is also the life of the Christian. Because he lives we all live. What is more, this life is not any life, it is the very life of God in the heart of man.

What a gospel!

Pastor

‘lively religion’ 1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

• When Christ died on the cross and rose from the grave he brought life to his people.

• We see this lively hope the new life and thoughts of glory

• We shall compare formal dead religion and true lively religion

formal religion • The hearts of those who are

unsaved and in the world and those who are unsaved and attend church are equally worldly

• We sometimes see in the man who occasionally comes to church a worldly lifestyle.

• We sometimes see in the man who comes often to church a worldly approach to religion.

• We also see in many a limited religion. You can see a religion of the mind, heart or will but without the soul.

lively religion • True and lively religion will

show in a gospel heart and a spiritual heart.

• We see in this man a spiritual response to the gospel. The sense of sin is also a mark of resurrection life. Belief in Christ is also resurrection life.

• We see in this man a spiritual response to the preaching of the Word. He responds to the calls to be gracious and holy

• This spiritual heart is also a heavenly heart that longs to be with the Lord.

• This lively religion and spiritual religion comes from the resurrection life of Jesus Christ

‘best sermon’ Luk 24:32  And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

One of the pastors said on a pastors whatsapp group just before the lockdown (when some churches were meeting with a smaller congregation and some churches had cancelled their meetings and were providing online messages) ..“remember that the best sermon in the world was preached to just two men” He was referring to this sermon of Luke 24.

scriptures • We see the Saviour approach

these two men and after speaking to them for some time, preached to them from the Word of God

• He brings attention to the importance of the Word of God in our services

• I am sure he spoke from the Bible about man’s duty to obey God, man’s fall into sin, the coming of the Messiah, the dying of Christ for sinners, the resurrection and the offer of the gospel to men

congregation • We see another important part

of church services, where these two men were together in fellowship. We also note that Christ joined them.

• We see them blessed by the preaching - which built them up and caused their hearts to burn within them.

presence • These burning hearts speak of

the presence of Christ. It also speaks of the presence of the Holy Spirit on the Word of God

• This burning heart can be traced to the glorious presence of the Son of God
