Austin is a city with deep-seated Texas roots and yet it marches to its own drum. Its landscape is a vast patchwork of ranch acreage; live oaks and wildflowers scattered throughout. The Vernacular Architecture finds its tradition in ranch shed construction, shaded by long overhangs and screened porches.

The Lakes at TechRidge is a unique commercial office development for the City of Austin. The project is comprised of a series of carefully sited contemporary buildings; each with a distinctive architecture. Long low slung shed like buildings, shaded from the Texas sun by a delicate screen system, becomes the striking identity of the project.

Landscape plays a major role in the TechRidge story. In our fast paced technological society, work is the focus, for long hours in the day. At The Lakes, landscape is a respite, whether it be a view of a grove of oak trees or a sense of the scent of a tall field of Texas grasses. A quilt of Texas fields is the base for all of the striking buildings.
