names of loved ones lost during
the past 12 months.
On Sunday, May 23rd, Dr. Thomas G.
Ewald will be speaking at both services.
Please invite a friend & join us for a great
worship service at First Christian Church!
Sunday, May 30th, will
also be promotion
Sunday for children &
youth in their Sunday
School classes.
The Gospel According to Greg Greg Taylor
Sunday was another great day at FCC, marked by our annual Youth Sunday and
other important events. I’m so thankful for everyone involved in the service, and especially our Youth Minister Adam Brucker for his message about “Excitement!” Like Adam, I am
excited about what God is doing through FCC, and look forward to a great future because of the youth of our church.
Sunday also brought our annual honoring of graduates, and especially those
students graduating from high school. At the end of first service and the beginning of second, we brought our seniors up on the stage and prayed for them. At 9:30 a.m. in the
cable building, we hosted our annual graduate brunch, and I had the opportunity to share from my heart with our 16 graduates. My challenge for them was four-fold:
1. Commit to being a Psalm 119 Student
v. 11: “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you” v. 105: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.”
2. Commit to being a Matthew 5 Saltshaker v. 13: “You are the salt of the earth” v. 14: “You are the light of the world”
3. Commit to being a Matthew 6 Seeker v. 33: “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be
given to you as well.”
4. Commit to being a 2 Corinthians 4 Survivor vv. 16-18: “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away,
yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen in temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
These next four to five years will end up defining where many of these students will land spiritually for a large portion of their adult lives. I still remember back to my high school youth group in Champaign, and many of my friends from those days jumped off the
tracks spiritually during their college years. Will you commit to praying for and encouraging our graduates as they face this important time in their lives?
Sunday morning Dr. Tom Ewald from Lincoln Christian University will be preaching during both services, and a very special announcement will be made regarding our worship minister search process – you will not want to miss! This Sunday also brings the
annual baccalaureate service at 4:00 p.m. at Clinton High School and you are invited to attend and encourage our students.
Then, on May 30, we will host our annual Remembrance Sunday, as Kent reads the names of loved ones lost during the past twelve months and we study from the book of 2 Kings how important it is to remember. In addition, FCC-supported church planter Chad
Halbach from Wyoming will give us a brief update on his new church work in Laramie.
Have a great week – see you Sunday! Greg

We certainly need to forgive other people who have
hurt us. It is important that we don’t let bitterness,
resentment, and un-forgiveness become stored up in
us. We even need to forgive people who hurt us a
long time ago, and we need to forgive people who
are hurting us on a daily basis. But if we want joy to
operate in our lives, we will learn how to forgive and
forget. Forgiveness needs to be a lifestyle.
“Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth.”
1 Cor. 13:6
In June we’ll have a fine program on the 2nd
of the month with Carol McFeeters Thompson
bringing us good news from Weldon Springs. Then
on the 23rd we’ll depart to Little Galilee for a
program from Bob Phillips about the retreat. This
will be a week later than usual as VBS will be in the
Family Life Center. The bus will leave about 10:00
and lunch will be served. Change you calendar! In
July we’ll have Ryan Edgecomb from Lincoln Christian
Nursing Home to give us a very interesting program.

you’re younger than you’ll ever be again.” Current

June 12th we travel to Sullivan Little Theater
for a stage play, “Show Boat,” and we’re looking
forward to a fine day of entertainment. Then on July
22nd we’ll go to Hillsboro, IN, for a show called
“Hello Dolly” and fine food prepared by Donna. The
Beef House is the next agenda with Hopkins and
Miller giving us a little of Broadway music. Off to
Arthur for a great meal at the kitchen of Doris Yoder.
Fine cooking by a very talented person on the 7th of
September. “We are here for a spell, get all the good
laughs you can.” Will Rogers
Love responds when strife knocks at the door,
strife won’t gain entrance. Instead good will
overcome evil. Light will overcome darkness. Death
will be completely vanquished and swallowed up in
life. “Don’t let yourself be overcome by evil, but
overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:21

VBS CORNER Johnny and Janelle are coming. Who are they? They are the young couple coming to SonQuest Rainforest VBS on June 14-18 as our missionaries. Janelle is from northwest Indiana and Johnny is from Central Ohio. They met at Lincoln Christian University and were married in 2008. They both have done mission work and now feel they want to serve an unreached group of people. Therefore, they are going to Myanmar (formerly Burma) where 90-95 percent are non-Christian - the majority being Buddhist. They will be taking training in the Burmese language and culture. Johnny has gifts in administration and teaching while Janelle has a strong gifting in working with children and women. It will be a wonderful experience for our young people to have this couple with them during our VBS week. Payahduhkin gownji bee bah zay. That is how you say “God bless you” in Burmese.

We are raising up a new generation of potential
believers for Christ. Every verse we quote, every Bible story we tell, and the models we provide with our lives can bring a child closer to believing
in Christ. A reverence for God must seep into everything we teach our children. The testimonies
of campers remind us of why Little Galilee exists. We are proud of Little Galilee and how it has
helped to change so many lives. WELCOME TO
LITTLE GALILEE!! WE ARE GLAD YOU ARE HERE!!
Vacation Bible School - June 14-18
