The Gospel According to Greg Greg Taylor
This week, Ernie and I, along with several others from our church, are leading a week of Junior Main camp at nearby Little Galilee. Please pray for good weather, safety and many decisions for Christ! This is the final of ten weeks of camping sessions at LGCC, and the second of two Family camp programs is just three weeks
away. Little Galilee is one of God’s special places and I would encourage you to continue to pray for the staff, but send a word of encouragement to Ken Rutledge, Kevin Peterson, Bob Phillips, Bev Angel and many others who are literally changing
their world for Christ through the ministry of LGCC! I recently was given an article entitled “Why Go to Church” and I thought it might
be encouraging for you as well:
A church go-er wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. “I’ve gone for 30 years now,” he wrote, “and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for
the life of me, I can’t remember a single one of them. So, I think I’m wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all.” This started a real controversy in the “Letters to the Editor” column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:
“I’ve been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this. They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!”
When you are DOWN to nothing . . . God is UP to something. Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible! Thank God for our physical AND spiritual nourishment.
I hope you have been encouraged and “nourished” as we have studied some of the most important teachings of Jesus Christ this “Summer in the Son” at FCC. This
week, we have a special guest speaker – Mike Mallick from Bradenton, Florida – who will bring the truth of God’s word from John 14:6. You will not want to miss it!
Blessings Greg

Being still has a soothing effect on us. Peace produces more peace. Waiting on God quietly does more to restore our bodies, minds and emotions than anything else. We need it regularly. Insist on having it; don’t let anyone take it from you. Work your schedule around God; don’t try to work Him into your schedule. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” Galatians 5:22-23 NIV
On the 18th we’ll have Steve Ingram from the Bement Country Opry giving us a lot of laughter and smiles as he always does. In September we’ll have a train buff that will enlighten us on the growth of trains in our area. Also we’ll have Joe Meeks spreading his quiet nature for all of us to enjoy and become peaceful. “and hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit…” Rom. 5:5 NIV
Our next trip will be Sept. 7th to the kitchen of Doris Yoder in Arthur, IL, and she has planned a meal for us that will make your mouth water. The “mystery trip” is scheduled for the month of October. Our Branson trip will be in November and promises some great shows and food. Christmas in the Chapel will be December the 3rd, and it’s going to be a fine program. “A faithful friend is the medicine of life.” Apocrypha
Some people feel they aren’t good at anything, but that isn’t true. When we make an effort to do what others are able to do, we often fail because we aren’t gifted with those abilities. But that doesn’t mean we aren’t good at anything. It is wonderful to be free to be different, and not feel that something is wrong with us because we are different. “Well done good and faithful servant” Matthew 25:23 KJV

See you there!
During the month of July the Food Pantry
served 238 families, of which 15 families
were new to our pantry. All total, 636
individuals were assisted during the month.
In John 6:35 Jesus declared, “I am the bread
of life. He who comes to me will never go
hungry, and he who believes in me will never
be thirsty.”
To those who have contributed money, food
and time to the Food Pantry, thank you so
much for your continual support. God‟s
blessings to you and your families.
As we continue to serve others through our
Food Pantry, and hopefully at
the same time, assist them
with some spiritual needs as
well, please remember to
keep the Benevolence
Ministry in your prayers.
