The Jurassic Petroleum System in the Danish Central Graben
Transcript of The Jurassic Petroleum System in the Danish Central Graben
AimsEstablish a consistent seismic-sequence stratigraphicframework of the Jurassic in the Danish CentralGraben.
Provide a series of paleogeographical maps, showingthe depositional environments, distribution of litholo-gies and potential sand source areas through time.
Provide an overview of reservoir sandstone charac-teristics, i.e. porosity, permeability, net sand, sedi-ment petrography and diagenetic alterations.
Outline the regional variation of source rocks/petroleumcharacteristics such as quality/type, maturity, likelykitchen areas and migration fairways.
Present basin modelling studies in areas where propersource rocks and reservoirs can be anticipated.
Present a synthesis of the Jurassic PetroleumSystem, covering prospectivity and hydrocarbonplays in the Jurassic of in the Danish Central Graben.
The study is carried out through collaboration agreements between GEUS and participating OilCompanies. Throughout the project period resultswill be made accessible to participating Companiesthrough a restricted web-site and discussed duringworkshops, which are held twice a year.

In 2011 the Geological Survey of Denmark andGreenland (GEUS) launched a 3 year project on “The Jurassic Petroleum System in the DanishCentral Graben” financed by oil companies activein Denmark. The short title of the project is PET-SYS (PETroleum SYStem).

ActivitiesThe Study will comprise the following activities:
Activity 1:Establish a GIS platform for presenting study results on arestricted web-site.
Activity 2:Integration of seismic interpretation, stratigraphy andreservoir characterization. Construction of paleogeographicmaps and interpretation of depositional environments.
Activity 3:Evaluation of Jurassic source rock properties and composi-tion of petroleum.
Activity 4:3D basin modelling studies.
Activity 5:Synthesis of activities 2-4.
