This foundationis but one way that Joe’s love of life and good-ness may be perpetuated and inspired in others.

Mission:The mission of The Joe Garassino Foundation is to provide resources topersons challenged by cholangiocarcinoma and other cancers in a way thatbroadens awareness and provides funding for shelter, medicine, and treatment, so that those affected may be focused on mutual support and encouragement.

Examples of the types of support we provide include, but are not limited togrants for the following:

• Cholangiocarcinoma education and research• Travel and lodging assistance during treatment• Medical and/or treatment expense• Service/comfort dogs for patients

Although Joe’s challenge was with cholangiocarcinoma, grants of financial support are open to any person or family challenged by any form of cancer. Joe’s heart was so much bigger than his disease and we seek to share that spirit with others. The foundation is not-for-profit tax-exempt under section 501(c) (3) on the Internal Revenue Code and desires to make a difference in the lives of many cancer patients and their families. We also plan to contribute significantly to cancer awareness and research programs.If you would like to be a part of the life enhancing legacy that lives on inthe memory of Joe and the love of life he shared, we urge you to make yourtax deductible donations to:

June 3, 2019 Dear Friends,

Thank you for your support of the 7th Annual Joe Garassino Foundation Golf Event. It is hard to believe we are celebrating our 7th year -something we couldn't have done without your continued support.

This event is the highlight of our year and serves as our only fundraiser for the foundation.

My son, Joe Garassino, died two weeks after his 29th birthday froma rare and aggressive cancer. In June 2012, what started as a stomach ache, resulted in Joe diagnosed with stage four cholangiocarcinoma, a rare bile duct cancer. Joe fought a courageous seven-month battle, and gives us strength each day. Joe stayed strong and positive throughout his sickness and hospice days. As a father, this is the worst thing that can happen and I hope others will not have to experience losing their child to cancer.

I decided to celebrate the life Joe lived by establishing The Joe Garassino Foundation. The mission of the Foundation is to provide resources to those challenged with cancer. I feel that if I can make one cancer patient’s journey a little easier or put a smile on their face then I have accomplished the mission of the Foundation. Joe lived his life in Connecticut, so as part of his legacy the Foundation annually donates funds to local Connecticut families and organizations. This year we plan to help several cancer victims in the surrounding area.

Thank you to all the sponsors, golfers, volunteers and foundation supporters for making our event another huge success. The generosity of so many people and organizations is what allows the Foundation to give back to those in need within our community. Lou was an amazing individual person, family man and gentleman in so many different ways. Those of who met him, had business dealings or simply called him friend have reiterated this whole heartedly.

He always looked forward to this event and contributed both on and off the golf course to help with the success of this tournament. Lou kept Joe's memory alive by helping those less fortunate with cancer, which ultimately took his life as well.

Today on the 7th anniversary of the Joe Garassino Foundation golf tournament do we not only honor Joe but we honor Lou. Our love for you both will never die; your spirits and memories will live on in us all every day.

We miss you both more than words could say!
