If you’re interested in employment in the medical field, being an intern in a medical setting will give you a good idea of how working in a hospital feels. This is a fantastic opportunity to test out the profession! Typically there are steps and requirements you must go through before you can intern (or volunteer) in a hospital setting. As with any business, hospitals want to be sure you’ll be a good representative of their organization. Additionally, they want to be sure you are physically fit to work in that environment; you may be required to show your current vaccination records. Being upbeat and enjoying working with people is essential as a hospital intern. Learning a new profession also requires good listening skills, flexibility and a willingness to do any job. You won’t be doing any actual medical procedures or advising patients but you will be able to help with other tasks. You may be delivering supplies and organizing materials. Many of the jobs require sitting at a desk, tidying up, and systematizing. These jobs are necessary to keep the hospital running smoothly and efficiently. Be willing to do whatever is asked of you! Interning in a hospital setting is great work experience to add to your resume, especially if you’re interested in a career in medicine. As a hospital intern you are demonstrating to future medical employers that you’re serious about pursuing a career in their industry! Be prepared to claim your next career choice, be JobRedi!
