WE HOPE LIKE US that you feel this venue is a permanent celebration of great music. Of shows that we feared might fair badly because of our bi-polar spring weather or people’s unfamiliarity with the trail the act is blazing we obviously need not fear. Our view is not business based but sometimes we hear the radio and fear for the more artistic musicians that travel from near and far to perform.

It may indeed become cheesy for us to continue to harp on about metaphorical warmth across the cold months but… from an artist’s point of view what JC punters did across March and April is surely what you want from your fans. The cold snap was no match for those wanting to see Teedra Moses, Larry Graham, Alexander O’Neal or Damage.

This next couple of months we are sure those of you coming to see the likes of Arrested Development, Tweet, Maysa, Omar, Candi Staton or The Congos will not be disappointed.

Thank you and enjoy

OMAR ‘THE MAN’ ALBUM LAUNCH

After a year that among other things saw him accept his MBE for services to music from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace and return to the stage in the theatre production ‘Lovesong’, Omar Lye-Fook is to release his new LP ‘The Man’ on Freestyle Records. This album is Omar’s 7th full length. Undoubtedly one of UK music’s living legends any new release from Neo Soul pioneer is an eagerly awaited affair. Omar had remade his debut hit single, “There’s Nothing Like This” to commemorate its twenty-first anniversary.

CANDI STATON The first Lady of Southern Soul Candi Staton racked up 16 hits between 1969- 1974 such as the Grammy-nominated ‘In the Ghetto’ and ‘I’m Just A Prisoner (Of Your Good Lovin’)’.

After a detour into disco and dance which produced her best known hit ‘Young Hearts Run Free’ and the European smash ‘You Got The Love’ she returned to the gospel of her youth. In more recent times her biggest hits have been remixed again and again right up until 2007 with her last notable release ‘Hallelujah Anyway’ coming out in 2012.CANDI-STATON.COM

THE CONGOS + DJ SHEPDOG (NICE UP!)

The Congos formed originally as the duo “Ashanti” Roy Johnson and Cedric Myton and later became a trio with the addition of Watty Burnett after recording the single “At the Feast” for Lee “Scratch” Perry. This line-up recorded the classic roots reggae album Heart of the Congos in 1977. The Congos went their own way, organizing a limited pressing of the album themselves. UK label Go Feet reissued the album in 1980. The group disbanded but re-formed in the 90’s joined by Lindburgh Lewis, 2012’s Dub Feast was their last release.
